Shana rubbed her eyes, wondering if she had seen that wrong.
“Mr. Floyd, is my food good?” she asked hesitantly.

The hot pasta had soothed Henry’s stomach, and his mood had lightened. He replied, “It’s not bad.”
“Huh?”
Just moments ago, Shana had doubted her eyes, and now she was beginning to question if her ears were deceiving her too.
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.
She had spent three years studying Henry’s preferences, but no matter how well she cooked, his reviews were always okay. Once, only once, had he said it was alright.
Shana felt defeated, but then reminded herself that Henry was a wealthy heir. He had grown up with gourmet meals prepared by world–class chefs, so of course he had a refined palate. She just needed to keep
at it.
One day, while delivering lunch to the office, she encountered Kate, who had also sent Henry a homemade lunch.
Before he even took a bite, Henry was on the phone with Kate, saying, “The food you sent is always delicious.”
Shana stood in the doorway, feeling like a complete fool.
It wasn’t that her cooking was bad or didn’t suit his taste; it was simple because she wasn’t the woman he loved. No matter how good the food was, he didn’t care.
After that, she refused to cook for him. That j*rk didn’t deserve her cooking. But now….

Shana suddenly fell into self–doubt. Was she crazy, or was he the one who had lost his mind?
As they say, practice makes perfect. She grabbed the fork from Henry’s hand, scooped up some pasta, and took a bite. The next moment, she frowned and immediately spit it out
“It’s tasteless. How did you come to the conclusion that it’s not bad?”
She was offended. Every meal she had ever prepared was a hundred, even a thousand times better than this tasteless pasta.
“Shana, I told you it was not bad, and you’re actually complaining?”
Henry was genuinely puzzled. She didn’t like it when he said it was bad, but now that he gave her a compliment, she was still not happy.

“I just want to know how this pasta managed to catch Mr. Floyd’s eye.” Shana sat up straighter, her dark eyes boring into him.
She looked at him as though she wouldn’t sleep until she got an answer.
Henry didn’t understand why she suddenly had to argue about this. And now she was calling him crazy? He couldn’t help but feel that she was the one who had lost her mind.
Why did he think the pasta was decent? Perhaps it was because he had been starving all day, and anything would satisfy his hunger at this moment. Or maybe…
A thought flashed in his mind, but it annoyed him, so he brushed it off. He responded casually, “I paid 10,000 dollars for this. I have to make sure they’re worth it.”
The spark that started to ignite in her eyes faded.
Look at her—she thought too highly of herself again.
Henry hadn’t said it was good just because it was her cooking.
He hadn’t cared about the free meals she had prepared before. Now that he paid, he could savor a simple plate of pasta.
After a pause, she let out a self–mocking laugh. “Naturally, people rarely appreciate something that’s free.”
“What are you mumbling about?” Henry glanced at her not catching her words.
Shana, full of resentment, managed a forced smile. “I said, I ask for too little money; I should’ve asked for 50,000 dollars.”
“Can you stop talking about money all the time?”
Even though Henry knew she loved money, it wasn’t that he couldn’t afford it, but the constant mention of it grated on him.
It was as if, apart from money, she had no other feelings for him.

Shana was clearing the dishes. When she heard his words, she couldn’t help but laugh. She looked him up and down and retorted, “Mr. Floyd, if I’m not talking about money, should I talk about feelings?”
Her smile made Henry’s stomach hurt again. He frowned and emphasized, “Shana, I’m your husband. Who else will you talk about feelings with if not me?”
His voice dropped in the last few words, heavy with underlying tension.
Shana nodded, “Hmm, to a husband whose heart belongs to another woman. Why exactly should I talk about my feelings with you?”
Hadn’t she already talked enough about feelings over the past three years?
She was a hopeless romantic and did everything she could for him.
Henry struggled to find the right words.

Shana was used to it by now. She didn’t say anything else, quietly finished cleaning up, and then walked to her room.
She climbed back into bed and closed her eyes.
Shana didn’t know when Henry would return, or even if he would. By the time she opened her eyes again, the sun had risen.
She glanced at the empty bed. The j*rk wasn’t there.
Shana was supposed to visit her parents‘ graves later, so she didn’t waste time lounging. She quickly got up, folded the blankets, then put on her headband and went outside to freshen up.
Breakfast was already prepared; all dishes she loved were brought by the breakfast carts outside.
She sat down at the table, the delicious smell filling the air. It felt like pure happiness–food really was the best cure for everything.
Shana picked up a croissant. She took a bite and paired it with some milk. Her energy returned immediately.
She flashed Grace a big heart–shaped gesture. Shana declared, “Grace, you really get me. This is so good!”
Grace smiled and shook her head. “I can’t take credit this time. Henry went to buy you these early this morning after hearing you love them. You should thank him.”
“Cough!” Shana choked on her food. Her eyes widened as she turned to face the man next to her, who was staring at her expressionlessly.
The last time he saw her buying street food outside City Hall, the look in his eyes had been murderous. She remembered that vividly.
He had always hated her eating junk food, so why was he buying it for her now? Was he possessed?
Henry, as if sensing her thoughts, glanced at her and said coldly, “Didn’t you say you liked it?”
This was weird.
But with Audrey and Grace present, Shana pushed down her questions and forced a sweet smile. “Thanks, hubby.”
Grace winked and said with a smile, “Audrey, look at how much Henry cares about Shana. Now you can rest easy, right?”
Audrey nodded vigorously, almost losing her dentures. The old woman said with a satisfied smile, “You two are so in love; now I can relax.”
After breakfast, Shana and Henry went up the mountain to visit her parents‘ grave. They were buried together.
She stared at their smiling faces in the photo, and even after all these years, her eyes filled with tears. If her parents hadn’t passed away, she would have been such a happy girl.

Shana held back the urge to roll her eyes, not wanting to argue in front of her parents. She finally spoke
