Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Wesley didn’t even look up, continuing to scoop the last bite of rice into his mouth.
After putting down his bowl, he lifted his piercing blue eyes and shot Ella a harsh glare.
Then, slowly and deliberately, he said:
“First of all, Margot is Vincent’s sugar mama, and second, you’re a bit lower on the totem pole, playing the role of the pathetic little mistress of a good–for–nothing man. And unlike you, she has a choice–she could be eating fine dining any time she wants, but she chose to eat street food, that’s all.”
“Lastly, could you move out of the way? I’m worried your filthy dogs might dirty the
owner’s floor.”
Wesley tried to lead me away.
“You!”
Ella’s face turned green with anger.
She had intended to humiliate me, but Wesley’s sharp tongue had infuriated her instead.
Wesley turned to me and gave me a slight smile.
It was the first time I had seen him smile
in a long while.
He said softly:
“People like her don’t even deserve to talk to you.”
With that, Wesley grabbed my hand and was about to leave.
But unexpectedly, Vincent, who had been silent, spoke up in a mocking tone:
“Margot, if you’re out of money, you can talk to me. I can lend you some.”
I froze for a moment, then gently released Wesley’s hand.
Too Late to Say Sorry
Chapter 10
I walked straight to Vincent without hesitation, raised my hand, and slapped him hard across the face.
Finally, holding back the pain in my heart, I sneered
“You don’t deserve to call me Margot. My Vincent has been dead for a long time!”
Vincent didn’t expect me to hit him. He stared in disbelief as he held his face, his Adam’s apple bobbing.
Then a smug, arrogant smile spread across his face as he coldly laughed.
“Heh, wake up. Margot! I never loved you. All the good things I did for you were lies, just to deceive you. You’re so easy to fool, and you even slept with me for free…”
Before he could finish, Vincent was suddenly slammed into the wall behind him.
Both Ella and I covered our ears, startled by the force.
It was Wesley! He had kicked Vincent across the room.
Wesley’s eyes were bloodshot as he spat out,
“Scum! Don’t let me see you again, because every time I do, I’ll beat you up! I mean it.”
“You!”
Amid Vincent and Ella’s curses, Wesley took my hand, and we left the place.
