Chapter 21 Twins
Celeste lay back on the exam table and remarked, “Almost four months now.”

She thought to herself, “It was the night before Nathaniel
left the country. He held me close and made love with me for hours.
He kept saying how he didn’t want to leave, whispering sweet nothings…
I must have conceived then.”
A faint sorrow flickered in Celeste’s eyes as she closed them, bracing herself for the examination.
She needed solid confirmation of her pregnancy.
Rebecca carefully pulled aside Celeste’s shirt, applying the gel with a practiced hand, her gaze fixated on the screen.
After a long moment, she looked up, her eyes glistening with excitement. “Ms. Hartley, you’re having twins!”
Celeste’s eyes flew open in surprise. Just as she’d sensed, and now it was confirmed–she felt a wave of uncontainable joy

wash over her.

Sitting up, she wiped off the gel, a rare smile gracing her face. “Rebecca, thank you. I have to step out for a bit to give Griffin acupuncture, and we can’t let anyone else know about this.
yet.”
Rebecca nodded eagerly. “Got it, Ms. Hartley. I’ll schedule
check–ups every two weeks. I can’t wait to meet them!”
Celeste felt a warmth in her heart. The pain Nathaniel had caused was considerably soothed by the prospect of her little
ones.
After a quick look at Rebecca, who was preparing the acupuncture kit, she headed to check on Griffin.
Griffin’s condition hadn’t changed much; he remained in a delicate state after the traumatic injury.
His brain and organs were healing, but it was now solely up to his will to wake up.
Once she completed the acupuncture session, Celeste turned to Rebecca. “Make sure to show him some news from outside every day, and monitor his brain activity. I want a report every evening.”
“Absolutely, Ms. Hartley. Oh, I think I saw Everly back. Can I go

hang out with her in the front yard?”
“Sure, why not? From now on, you can have your meals out there. You two can help each other out.”
“Oh, yay! That sounds awesome” Rebecca chirped, clearly thrilled.
Celeste returned to the front yard, a flicker of hope guiding her steps.
Meanwhile, Madelynn was in a panic, dialing her father’s number.
“Dad, Celeste has cleared her name! How did she get the video of Candy stealing the files when it was deleted? It’s just not possible!”
She had asked someone from the tech department, and they assured her it was impossible to recover the footage. Madelynn didn’t understand where Celeste got this information.
“Madelynn, don’t stress. I’ve got everything under control. Nathaniel won’t trace it back to us. Think about it–has he ever figured out what we’ve been up to? The only thing you should focus on now is marrying Nathaniel and becoming the matriarch of the Rowe Group.”

Hearing her father’s calm reassurances eased Madelynn’s
nerves.

As long as they remained off Nathaniel’s radar, everything
would be fine.
Just then, a cold voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts, “Madelynn, what are you up to?”
She spun around to find a tall, imposing figure standing behind her, eyes icy and dangerous.
A shiver ran down her spine at the thought of her earlier. conversation.
“Nathaniel, what a surprise! I didn’t expect you here,” Madelynn said, trying to regain her composure as she playfully looped her arm through his.
He shot a passing glance at her arm before responding coolly, “There’s a gala tonight. You’ll be my date.”
Madelynn’s face lit up with delight, her smile radiant. “Perfect! I’ll go change my outfit, and you can pick me up later. You’re just the best, Nathaniel! You warm my heart. I love you!”
As the sunlight poured down, casting a shadow that made him look even taller and more enigmatic, he replied nonchalantly, “Mm.”

Madelynn felt a pang of disappointment at his indifferent
response.
Celeste returned home and went upstairs to take a nap.
Pregnancy had made her incredibly sleepy.
In the afternoon, she came downstairs, where Everly was
waiting with an invitation in hand.

“Ms. Hartley, this is an invitation to the Tri–Nation Business
Summit. There are fifteen projects on the agenda. The chairman would like you to attend. It starts at eight tonight, and Landry will be there ahead of time to handle everything.”
Celeste took the invitation and glanced at it, her voice tinged with sloth. “Is Briar still not back yet?”
