Chapter 44 Leaving
Charlie scrutinized her with his gaze. Bringing her back had indeed yielded some information.
“If you like it, take it,” he said.
Celeste gripped the photo tightly. She stood up and said, “Thank you, Mr. Hartley! I’ll leave for now. I’ll visit you again another day.”
Charlie didn’t insist on keeping her. There was still plenty of time. As long as she was willing to come back, there would be opportunities to learn what he wanted to know.
Celeste walked out quickly.
Nathaniel also found an excuse to leave.
Madelynn was unhappy, but Charlie knew what Nathaniel was going to do and didn’t let his daughter follow him outside.
Nathaniel was angry, and having her follow him would only make things worse.
Celeste had admitted it herself, so Nathaniel certainly wouldn’t let her off easily.
Men could be terrifying when they got petty.

Especially a man as arrogant as Nathaniel.
Celeste had just stepped out of the gate when Nathaniel blocked her path.
Celeste frowned as she looked at the furious man in front of her. His rage was frightening.
“Nathaniel, shouldn’t you be making babies with your woman? Why are you blocking my way?” she said.
As soon as she finished speaking, Nathaniel’s hand wrapped tightly around her throat.
Her breath was instantly cut off. Nathaniel’s eyes were cold, his gaze icy and deadly.
Celeste silently cursed Nathaniel’s ancestors. This man loved to strangle her and seemed to enjoy watching her suffer.
“Celeste, do you think playing with my feelings is fun?” he said.
Celeste was suffocating. Her breathing was labored, and her heart bled with anger. This was the man she had fallen in love with, who now wanted to strangle her.
“Let… let go,” she gasped.
Nathaniel saw her face turning red, nearing suffocation. Het suddenly let go of her neck.
He shook his hand with a look of disdain.

“Cough, cough…” Celeste gasped for fresh air.
A tear slid down her face. He could still hurt her so easily.
When Nathaniel saw her tears, it felt like his heart had been scalded. His breathing became labored as well.
The skin on her fair neck and delicate collarbone was bruised. and covered in his fingerprints. She could see all of it.
He instinctively looked away, avoiding the sight. The knuckles of his hand hanging by his side turned white.
But then he heard her cold voice, “Nathaniel, weren’t you just playing too? Don’t act like you can’t handle it. Our marriage is over. I can like whoever I want. It has nothing to do with you.

“And stop bullying me all the time. I’m just a woman. suddenly betrayed me and divorced me. I’m in pain. I’m hurting. Nathaniel, I’m a person too. So stay away from me, you piece of trash,” she said.
Nathaniel couldn’t hold back his anger any longer after hearing her last words. At that moment, he truly wanted to strangle her.
He was used to her obedient and capable demeanor.
Seeing her rebellious spirit and bold demeanor, he wanted to break her wings.
“Celeste, you’re the one who should stay away from me,”

Nathaniel said, glaring at her. “Celeste, I really underestimated
you. You’ve already latched onto Carler. Just how many men have you been with behind my back?” he said.
“Heh…” Celeste laughed in anger at his words.
Nathaniel stared at her, his deep eyes fixed on her. “What are you laughing at?” he said.
Celeste lifted her head, suppressing the pain in her heart. Her desolate gaze seemed empty.
Seeing it made Nathaniel’s heart ache.
Celeste’s bold gaze seemed to pierce through to the heart. “Nathaniel, have you never heard this saying? ‘Be grateful for the encounter, and respect the parting.‘ We’re already divorced. Why can’t you just let me go? Is it because departure hurt your ego?” she said.
