Chapter 8 The Distinguished Guest
“Celeste, don’t get too excited. Tonight, Nathaniel will buy the most marvellous purple diamond for me and propose to me, and you are just his ex–wife.”
“Really? I’m looking for it.”Celeste sneered.
Then she paused for a moment, slammed the car door shut, and left the Rowe Group.
Meanwhile, her grandfather, Quentin Jameson called her.
“Hi, Grandpa.”
“Celeste, a violet diamond will be for auction at tonight’s charity party. No matter how much it costs, you must get it.”
Celeste was a little surprised.
“Grandpa, I have no idea you’re into diamonds.”
“Come on. Just buy it. I have my reasons.”
Celeste smiled, “Okay! I’ll go there later. Have someone send
me the invitation.”

Celeste hung up the phone and thought, what a coincidence, Nathaniel, don’t blame me for ruining your proposal.
As night fell, the Rochester Auction House buzzed with elites and big shots.
Anything up for auction there was a real treasure.
Madelynn entered the banquet hall with Nathaniel, drawing envious glances from all the ladies in the room.
She looked stunning tonight in her limited–edition red KAVON
dress.
The dazzling diamond earrings she wore also added to her already radiant look.
As Madelynn took in their jealous stares, she felt a surge of pride and held her head a little higher.
After all, she was the only woman who had ever been
Nathaniel’s date at an event like this.
Celeste used to be his wife, yet he didn’t love her. And he had never shown up in public together with her.
Thinking of that
ladelynn became more smug.

Then she greeted the people around her with courtesies.
The arrival of Nathaniel caused quite a stir in the auction house, but he was totally cool with it.
He then took Madelynn to the seats.

As an SVIP there, Nathaniel naturally got the best seats on the first row.
But the moment he was seated, he noticed there was still a
seat before him.
It must’ve been reserved for someone more important than him.
Knowing that, he asked his friend, Leon Rochester, who was next to him.
“Who’s that guest?”
Leon owned the auction house, and he also had a chiseled face.
His shoulder–length hair was slightly curled, framing his striking features. He looked just like a prince from a painting, noble yet laid–back.

While Nathaniel had that steady and reliable vibe, Leon looked more like the playboy type.
Leon smiled meaningfully and replied, “I’m also curious.
My grandpa arranged the seat, saying it’s for his most distinguished guest.”
Nathaniel frowned a bit. The coldness in his sharp eyes was
terrifying.

It seemed that the most distinguished guest was also here for
the violet diamond.
He wondered which business tycoon it was.
The mysterious guest also piqued Madelynn’s interest.
Gradually, the guests present were all seated.
Yet, that mysterious guest still hadn’t appeared.
As the host walked to the stage, the first item for auction was
delivered to the stage under the escort of the bodyguards.
Everyone came here because of the violet diamond.
Just then, a slender figure walked in through the side door.
Celeste showed up at the last minute.

She wasn’t a fan of crowded places, yet her grandpa insisted on getting the violet diamond.
Celeste’s arrival drew everyone’s attention, and her pretty
face stunned them all.
After she scanned the crowd, Celeste’s expression turned a bit
serious.
She noticed the auction house was packed with big shots in
Kinston.
It seemed that the violet diamond had some secrets she didn’t
know about.
Dumbfounded, Nathaniel couldn’t take his eyes off her.
Clad in a black gown, Celeste had her collarbones revealed,
and her skin was smooth and glowing.
In the past, she had rarely worn dresses, but Nathaniel knew all too well that she’d look stunning even in rags.
And right now, she totally had all the spotlight.
Madelynn’s eyes flashed with hatred when she saw Celeste.
She couldn’t believe Celeste would pester Nathaniel like that.
Chapter 8 The Distinguished Guest
“Nate, looks like Ms. Hartley still hasn’t gotten over you. Otherwise, why would she be here?” Madelynn said with a
sneer.

Hearing that, Nathaniel pressed his lips silently, looking cool and composed.
Only the rich and powerful got to attend the charity party.
The thought of Celeste getting picked up by a fancy car drove
him mad.
Nathaniel still found it unbelievable that she had already moved on a month after leaving him.
Meanwhile, Celeste walked to the seat reserved for her.
She sat down, not even bothering to spare a glance at
Nathaniel.
Everyone was astonished.
The light in Madelynn’s eyes dimmed when she realized Celeste turned out to be the most distinguished guest.
Nathaniel’s eyes revealed surprise as his bottled–up emotions brimmed to the surface.

Chapter 8 The Distinguished Guest
His gaze at Celeste remained cold as he knew she was that
mysterious guest.
Funny.
How many secrets had she been keeping from me?
