After waking up she went to the office. She was working for Chase. Now, with the divorce, she no longer had a reason to stay. Alex was one of Chase’s personal assistants. He was surprised to see her resignation letter. He was one of the few in the company who knew about Ashley and Chase’s relationship. Those who were familiar with Chase knew that his heart was never really with Ashley. He was distant, often working late after their marriage. To bridge the gap and win his heart, Ashley had joined the company. She wanted to be his personal assistant, but Chase refused firmly, even with his grandpa’s intervention. In the end, she had to compromise and settled for a position in the assistant team, becoming one of many ordinary assistants to him. Alex was worried she’d disrupt the team, but she was exceptional.
Though Ashley did use her position to get closer to Chase, she was always tactful and never crossed boundaries. She was careful to never overstep, always maintaining her professionalism. She worked hard, never seeking special treatment whether handling heavy workloads or managing her own emotions.
Over few years, she had risen to be the head of assistant team. To be honest, Alex never expected Ashley to choose to resign. He was surprised she was leaving, and he didn’t think she’d do it willingly. Something that led to Chase pushing her to leave. Ashley was very capable at her job, Alex maintained a professional attitude with regretful.
“I’ve received your resignation notice. I’ll find someone to take over your work,”
“Okay.”
Back at his desk, Alex called Chase to report his work after handling some matters. Near the end, he thought of Ashley. By the way, Mr. Sterling, about…” He wanted to know when Chase wanted Ashley to leave. If Chase wanted her to leave the company immediately, he would make the arrangements right away. But Chase had said to handle her affairs according to company policy, without needing to report directly to him. Chase never cared or asked about her. And that was exactly how it had been. When they’d considered promoting Ashley, they had even discussed it with Chase. They made it clear that if he didn’t approve, it would be dropped. When Chase heard this, he frowned and reiterated that he wouldn’t get involved and that they should handle things according to the rules. From that point on, any issues regarding Ashley’s role at the company were no longer his concern.
Hearing that, Chase frowned, “What is it?”
