Alex snapped out his thought.“Nothing.” Since Chase knew about Ashley’s quitting and didn’t mention it, he didn’t have to ask. He could handle this by the book.
Chase ended the call.
“Daydreaming?” a colleague suddenly asked.
Ashley snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head, “Nothing.”
“No call for your boy today?”
“Um, no.” It was a secret known in the office that she called her boy Sam twice a day. Once around midnight, and again around noon. They just didn’t know Sam’s father was their CEO.
After work, Ashley bought groceries and plants. After dinner, she looked at the upcoming Tech Expo and called someone. “Please reserve a ticker for the Tech Expo next month.”
A cold voice rang out.“Are you sure? You said the same thing twice before, but you didn’t show up. Those tickets are in high demand, and you’ve wasted them..”
It was a major event; tickets were scarce. Though their company had secured several spots, and they were precious. “If I can’t make it this time, I won’t ask again,” she said firmly.

Her colleagues were angry and disappointed, and contact had dwindled over the years. She wanted to return, but she’d been away too long. she planned to spend some time understanding the current state of the industry before making a concrete plan.
