Good, because it was a hell of a task to call him.
He sat down quietly and so did I. We ate without saying anything.
“Tomorrow we will go to the hospital” I heard him.
“Okay.” I replied.
Then he got up and went back to his room.
I went back to mine. Yes, I just took another room, and laid down, praying for Max to be well… and for Robert to
trust me.
THE NEXT DAY
We reached the hospital and the doctors told us that Dr. Smith has arrived and is currently performing the operation on Max.
I saw care for Max in eyes of Robert. Like he felt responsible for him.
“Robert,” I said. “It is okay. Now Dr. Smith is gonna make everything fine”
He looked at me and nodded. “I hope,” he said.
I sighed and waited for his operation to end.
After many hours, we were being called. We both went and met the nurse.
“Doctor is gonna come out any moment,” she said.
We both nodded and, in a moment, Dr. Smith came out.
Yeah, he had the name tag. We haven’t met him.
“Mr. Max’s?” he asked.
“Yes,” Robert replied.
Dr. Smith nodded and a small smile appeared on his lips. “Operation successful!” he said.
I heard Robert sighing in relief. “That’s good news. When will he gain consciousness?”
“We expect that in two hours. We will inform you, and you can go back-”
“No. We are gonna wait here” Robert interrupted.
“As you wish” the doc replied.

Robert nodded and then we went back to the waiting room. I hope Max and Robert become good again. This is kind of bad, what is happening.
“Mr. Max has gained consciousness” the nurse informed us, as our faces lit up.
“You go first” I heard Robert saying to me.
“What? Me!?” I inquired.
“Yes”
“Robert… I guess you should… because.”
“You have a pure relationship of friendship with him. I am sure he would be happy to see you” he said.
“You trust me on this?”
“Yes,” he said.
I smiled and nodded. “Thanks”
I went to Max’s ward and he was lying with his eyes closed.
“Hey,” I said. He looked at me and lines of stress crossed his forehead.
“Hailey… Robert will-”
“He is the one who sent me. He is not angry” I said.
He looked at me with disbelief and then sighed. “Okay”
“How are you?”
“Better I guess,” he said.
“Hm… good”
“Thank you. Is Robert here?”
“Yes, he is. He is gonna meet you after me”
“He is? I can’t believe it. I thought he hates me”
“You risked your life for him, Max,” I said. He smiled.
“I promised you that. And he is my boss. That was my duty”
“You are really good, Max,” I said. “Now I should leave. Robert is gonna come”
“Yeah, thank you”

“Bye Max”
“Bye,” he smiled.
I left the ward and saw Robert standing.
“He is fine. Go, meet him”
“Yeah” he replied and went to Max’s room.
Robert’s POV
I went to Max’s room. I stood and saw him stiffening as I entered the room.
“Max,” I said.
“Hey boss,” he said.
“Robert. Call me Robert” I said.
He was quite taken aback. “Am I being forgiven?” he asked.
“Max… of course”
He smiled. “Thank you”
“Sorry Max,” I said.
He looked at me shocked as he registered my words in his mind. I really apologized to someone for the first time.
“W–What?” he said.
“I am sorry Max for doubting you. For ruining your pure & true relation with Hailey. You are friends, I get it”
He smiled bigger. “No need to say sorry, Robert”
I found my eyes moistening as I was really getting emotional right now.
He didn’t say anything as we stood in comfortable silence.
“When will I get discharged?” he asked.
“Probably in a week or two”
“But I only had one bullet”
“You had several bullets recently. So, rest” I said.
“Thank you, Robert”
“Bye,” I said.

“Bye Robert,” he said in a formal tone and I left.
I went back to Hailey. “let’s go home” I said.
“How long is he gonna be here?”
“Two weeks probably”
“Oh,” she said and then we went back to my car and reached home.
She went to her room and then came to me a while later. “The phone,” she said and gave me the phone I gave her.
“Why are you giving me this?” I asked.
“You don’t want me to return it?”
“Why would I give you if I want it back?”
“But… I thought you gave me because that time… it was, you know? Dangerous”
“Nope. Keep it” I said. She smiled.
“Just don’t make any contact with anyone. I hope you get an extra chance to make me trust you by this”
“Yeah… Sure. Thank you” she said and left.
Hailey’s POV
I was quite happy that he let me keep the phone. I will not make any contact with anyone, and I hope he trusts me
after this.
Anyway, I downloaded a few games!
Yeah, childish stuff, but gotta do something in free time.
I started playing some games and doing some stuff. I completed personalizing my phone and found a few new
recipes too.
As night came, I heard footsteps, and he entered the room. Gazing upon me once, he left for a shower. After a few moments, he came out and I was wide awake.
