Chapter 9
Chapter 9
“What?”
“Settling abroad?”
It sounded so absurd to him that his body almost shook with disbelief. “How could this be?”
All these years, Lily had been waiting for him in the domestic villa.
Even though he had been abroad for three years, just because he told her “don’t come,” she had never once gone abroad.
She had been living in the country with their daughter.
In fact, many times, James couldn’t even bring himself to imagine how she had raised Sophia alone.
But the truth was, the one who had caused all this mess was Lily.
James kept thinking that it wasn’t enough; he needed to find another way to punish her.
He had to prove that she loved him enough.
But for some reason, he now felt a regret like never before.
James went mad, reaching out through all his connections, shouting, “I must find my wife and daughter!”
For the past few days, he had locked himself in his house.
Ever since returning to the country, Lily would carefully iron every one of his suits, and the floors at home were spotless.
The sound of Lily and Sophia laughing would always echo through the villa.
But now…
The villa felt so empty and silent.
James felt that the loneliness, regret, and gloom in his heart were only growing bigger.
All he wanted to do now was one thing–to see his wife and daughter immediately.
Jessica and Amy had come to the villa to look for him several times.
“Dad, tomorrow is my birthday. Can you come with me to Disneyland?”
Amy unashamedly shook his arm, and for some reason, he now found Amy annoying.
He couldn’t help but think of Sophia.
When Amy was shamelessly lying in his arms, what about Sophia?
Sophia had no father’s love. Her face, filled with tears, continuously appeared in James’s mind.
“I’m such an idiot!”

James hit his own head.
At this moment, his guilt peaked.
“No, I can’t just sit here. I’ve hurt Lily and Sophia. I have to find them!”
Jessica cried and blocked him.
“James, since Lily has decided to leave you, she definitely doesn’t want to be found. Please let her go?”
“You’ve been with me and Amy all these years, she must have given up on you. Why don’t we start over?”
“After all these years, I still love you, James. Let’s give Amy a family…”
Normally, Jessica’s crying would have made him feel heartache, but this time, James irritably shoved her away.
“If you want a family, go find your ex–husband!”
“I have a wife and child. Jessica, let’s keep our distance from now on!”
James personally came to find me, using live streams, posting online, even contacting TV reporters–he tried every method.
But he was told.
There was no Lily and Sophia in the country.
James
clutched his head in regret for a long time. Suddenly, he seemed to think of something, and his eyes lit up.
“I know.”
“I know where Lily and Sophia are.”
I didn’t expect to see James again.
Two months later.
He had actually bought a ticket and came to the country I had settled in, showing up in front of me and Sophia, looking haggard and travel–worn.
“Lily, Sophia, I was wrong.”
It had been months, and James looked much more worn and exhausted.
He gazed at me with deep affection and even knelt down to apologize, begging me to take him back.
“Lily, I shouldn’t have been so self–righteous, thinking I could control you, testing you again and again, hurting you again and again.”
“At the time, I was just angry at you, wondering why you were so casual, which made me resistant. But I forgot, from the beginning, I also liked you.”
“Lily, I’ve neglected you and Sophia these past few months. Now I realize how deep your love for me was.”
“Can you give me another chance?”
James pleaded, his voice trembling.
