Upon seeing me, Chloe was taken aback, but she quickly recovered. She 

leaned into Hudson’s ear and whispered something before turning to me 

arrogantly. “Nice to meet you. I’m Mr. Thorne’s secretary. Call me if you need 

anything.” 

Hudson approved the proposal, which was made by me. After the meeting, 

he asked me to stay. Across the conference table, he studied me quietly. 

“You didn’t go to the hospital that day?” He must have investigated Chloe 

thoroughly. 

Chloe’s hand clenched. She pursed her lip and quickly interjected, “Mr. 

Thorne, we need to thank you for that. My sister’s stomachache went away as 

soon as she met you. Then she got stuck at work and didn’t go to the hospital.” 

Hudson raised his eyes, glancing at Chloe, tapping his fingers on the table. 

He picked up the meeting minutes Chloe was holding, flipping through it. 

Except for the first page, the rest were blank. Madame Cat had taught her wine 

tasting, photography, makeup, and male psychology, but not how to be a 

competent secretary. 

“You can’t be my secretary,” he said directly.“Think about what else 

do to offset the repair costs.”

I smiled inwardly. Even now, Chloe was engaging in female competition for 

a man. Her only weapon was her appearance. When they were done, I picked up
