I didn’t know what Hudson said to Chloe after he took her out of the private
room. When she returned, her shoulders were slumped, her face etched with fear
and despair. Mr. Wan was lying back on the sofa, his shirt unbuttoned. At the
sight of him, Chloe froze, looking terrified. She averted her gaze, as if she could
escape. Then, she saw me. She rushed over, grabbing my hand.
“Yonnie, my sister, help me! I don’t want to be with that pig! Please help me
pay my debt to Hudson. I know you have the money.”
Chloe held my hand tightly, crying as if she were dying. She innocently
believed money was the solution. For Hudson, money was nothing. All he cared
about was his business. He would use other methods to force Chloe even if she
didn’t owe him money.
Looking at her pale face, I said, “Being with Hudson… Isn’t that what you
want?”
“No, I don’t want it anymore!” Chloe shook her head, her teeth chattering.“I
was wrong. Please forgive me! I can’t sleep with those pigs. They’ll ruin me! Help
me get out of here, Madame Cat will introduce me to another rich guy, and I’ll
pay you back. I promise.”
Chloe trusted Madame Cat so blindly, but to Madame Cat, she was no
different than the prostitutes who just left here.

I gently pried Chloe’s fingers from my hand. In my past life, after she ran me
over, she kicked my phone away, leaving me to bleed out. The horror of
watching my life ebb away amidst excruciating pain was vividly etched in my
memory.
“Chloe, you caused this yourself,” I said coldly.“With your looks, you
could’ve gotten a good education and a good job. You could’ve even married into
wealth. But your ambition blinded you, and Madame Cat took advantage of you.”
I stood up and walked away. Her hysterical screams followed.
“You’re going to pay for this! I’ll tell Dad and Mom; they won’t let you go!”
She ruined her life and blamed it on me. But this time, she couldn’t hurt me.
As I left the club, I saw Hudson wait by his Rolls Royce. “Ms. Xiao, let me
take you home.” He opened the car door for me. I didn’t move. He chuckled. “You
left your sister to her fate and now you’re looking down on me? Get in. I’m still
your client.”
A faded photo sat on the dashboard: a young boy and girl stood
side–by–side outside a villa, the blue sea in the background. The boy
resembled Hudson; the girl looked vaguely familiar. Hudson glanced at the
photo.“That’s the last photo of me and my sister. She was found dead at the
beach the next morning. If she were alive, she would be almost thirty now.”
I stared at the girl’s radiant smile in the photo. I realized she bore a striking

resemblance to me.

Hudson watched the traffic light, and continued talking to himself.“My
father was a vegetable vendor. He married the mayor’s daughter, got into imports,
made a fortune, divorced, and married a bank president’s daughter. He became
one of the richest men in the province, divorced again, and married my mother.
His three sons from his previous marriage lived in the same house with us. They
hated my mother, my sister and me.” Hudson extended a hand and straightened the photo. “My mother was young and beautiful; my father doted on my sister and me, joking about giving me the company. His sons overheard him, so they tried to poison us. My sister drank the poisoned water. My father threw her body into the sea, claiming she drowned while playing at the beach. I wanted revenge, but they were stronger than me. They almost slit my throat.” Hudson loosened his
collar, revealing his neck scar.
