Chapter 4
I shook my head, denying it foolishly. “I don’t know you.”
My younger brother, South, kept gesturing to me urgently.
“Sis, this is the head of the Nelson family, the person you’ve been looking for.”
“Huh?”
I froze for a moment, only then realizing.
I glanced at the noble figure before me. No wonder he radiated such a powerful presence. He was the new heir to the Nelson family, a figure who had never been seen before.
I carefully asked, “You are Mr. Gray Nelson, the head of the Nelson family? Then what is Green Nelson to you?”
“She is a niece, though not by blood.”
So, she was a niece–one with no blood relation.
No wonder the security at the Nelson estate didn’t recognize her.
I straightened my back, gathering my courage to meet his gaze.
“Whether she’s a niece or not, she has been using the Nelson family name to do as she pleases–ruining my face, stealing my fiancé. As the head of the family, you should step in.”
“Yes, I have already stepped in.”
He said he had already stepped in?
I looked up at him in surprise.
The setting sun, fragmented by the tree branches, bathed him in a warm glow, deepening the contours of his already striking features.
His
eyes,
full of amusement, seemed to reflect my figure.
My heart skipped a beat, and I quickly looked away.

“How are you planning to handle it, Mr. Nelson?”
The fifty thousand that South owes, I’ve already paid off for him.”
“And for your father’s stall, I will give him a two–hundred–square–meter shop as compensation.”
“Does Miss Price think this is acceptable?”
I was stunned.
The compensation seemed rather generous.
“Yes, of course!”
South quickly pulled me behind him, his voice trembling with gratitude. “Thank you so much, Mr. Nelson. My sister is very pleased.”
But my father grabbed me and pushed me forward.
“Mr. Nelson, now that South and I have received compensation, what about North? Does she get nothing?”
My father didn’t control his strength well.
I stumbled and fell into Mr. Nelson’s arms.
My nose stung.
My ears burned with embarrassment.
Mr. Nelson politely steadied me.
I looked up, meeting his gaze–half–smiling, half–amused.
“I’m sorry…
I took a step back.
Just as I was about to say I didn’t need any compensation, his gentle voice interrupted me.
“Of course, Miss Price. You mentioned that Green Nelson took your fiancé. I am willing to compensate you with an upgraded version of a fiancé.”

“An upgraded version of a fiancé?”
Tdidn’t understand.
“A husband,” he said.
My father immediately became excited.
He rushed up to take Mr. Nelson’s hands. “Mr. Nelson, you mean to introduce a husband to my daughter? Could you make sure he’s a wealthy one? 1…”
Pad!”
I was exasperated. “Didn’t you always say rich people can’t be trusted?”
He shook his head.
“No. I’ve realized it now. Without money, even stray dogs will bully us. We need money!”
“Dad-”
Father gestured for me to be quiet.
Mr. Nelson elegantly withdrew his hands from my father’s grasp.
Then, without a word, he picked up a tissue from the table and gently wiped his fingers.
It was a silent gesture of disdain.
Yet his words were puzzling.
“Mr. Price, do you think I am wealthy enough?”
“Huh?”
My father froze for a second, then immediately nodded vigorously. “Yes, of course, you are!”
South echoed, equally stunned.
“Mr. Nelson, are you planning to marry my sister?”
Mr. Nelson looked at me.

“That depends on Miss Price’s answer.”
I was speechless,
The head of the Nelson family–wealthy, handsome, with all the charm and power to have any woman he wanted.
Why would he want to marry someone like me, a girl from the outskirts?
Father tugged at my sleeve, urging me.
“North, hurry and agree!”
Why me?”
I asked, my voice soft.
He smiled, looking utterly sincere. “My father has been pushing me to get married. He insists I must marry within this month. I think Miss Price has a gentle disposition, which suits me.”
He wanted to marry me because I had a gentle nature?
Was that all?
