Chapter 6
“Ryan, now that North is back, you’d better not tease her anymore.”
“That’s right. North is kind and well–behaved. She’s much more suited to you than Green Nelson.”
“The other day, when I saw her, I noticed a scar on her cheek. She didn’t want to talk to me much, probably because she’s been crying alone at home.”
Ryan’s heart clenched..
The day
day Green Nelson had overturned the table, North had been hurt too.
But back then, Ryan had been too focused on comforting Green to notice her.
No wonder she had been upset.
No wonder she hadn’t contacted him since that day.
Fortunately, North had a good temperament.
In the past, whenever they’d fought and had a cold war, all it took was a bouquet of white roses, and she’d forgive him.
She’d surely forgive him this time too.
The thought of seeing North again soon made him nervous.
He unconsciously adjusted his shirt collar, trying to make himself look more polished.
It was just like their first date–nervous but with a hint of anticipation.
But he waited and waited.
The matcha cake, which was her favorite, was almost melting on the table, and she still hadn’t
shown up.
Long Lee, too, was beginning to grow uneasy.
cleared his throat.

“I’ll call her.”
He took out his phone and dialed Nort’s mumber.
Only to realize that she had blocked him.
Ryan’s brows furrowed slightly.
Long Lee spoke again. “Ryan, why don’t you try calling her?”
Seeing Ryan hesitate, another friend tactfully offered, “I’ll make the call.”
But the result was the same–her phone was off.
At this point. Ryan lost his composure.
He finally set aside his pride and grabbed his phone to call her.
Her number was also blocked.
When he tried sending a message on Whats App, a red exclamation mark appeared.
He clenched his fingers around the phone, a surge of anger rising in his chest.
What was North doing?
Was she trying to cut him off for good?
The atmosphere in the private room grew awkward.
Amidst the silence, someone spoke up.
“Women love playing the hard–to–get game. North’s probably doing the same thing.”
“Yeah, maybe she’s on her way now, planning to surprise you.”
As the conversation swirled around him, a polite voice from the waiter outside the door cut through.
“Are you Miss Price?” the waiter asked politely.
“Please, come in.”

Ryan’s friends gasped.
“I told you! 1 knew North would come,” one of them exclaimed.
Ryan Lewis, who had been furrowing his brows in frustration, finally relaxed.
He turned with the others to face the door.
The private room door creaked open slowly, and a striking figure appeared before them.
Under the dim lighting, the girl stood there, her long, dark hair cascading over her shoulders, her makeup flawlessly done. The white slip dress she wore enhanced her pure yet seductive aura.
he was beautiful.
But not the kind of beauty Ryan was hoping for.
No… actually, it wasn’t the person he had been waiting for.
The girl walked toward him with graceful steps.
Her soft voice rang out, “Ryan, happy birthday.”
Ryan glanced behind her.
Empty.
There was no one else.
His well–defined brows furrowed, and his voice turned icy.
“What are you doing here?”
The room fell silent, everyone awkwardly watching the two of them.
“Ryan, I know I was wrong…”
Green Nelson quickly stepped forward to him.
But he sidestepped, and she missed her aim.
Ryan angrily swiped the white roses off the table and snapped, “What is going on here? Who gave
her the address?”

Everyone exchanged glances, but no one dared speak up.
Green walked toward him, eyes filled with tears. She grabbed the hem of his shirt and pleaded, “Ryan, please don’t ignore me. I promise I won’t make you angry anymore. Please, forgive me.”
“Why do you always run to North whenever we fight? She’s nothing but my substitute. You really love me, don’t you?”
“Who said North is your substitute?“
Ryan’s voice dropped.
“If she’s not my substitute, then why do you go to her every time we argue?”
Green’s tearful eyes blinked up at him.
Ryan stared at her, his irritation growing.
He didn’t know why he always thought of North after they fought.
All he knew was that right now, his mind and heart were entirely filled with her.
He didn’t want to see Green at all.
As for substitutes…
He couldn’t even tell anymore who was whose substitute.
Seeing that Ryan was silent, Green’s voice softened even more.
“Ryan, don’t be foolish. North’s just a poor street vendor. I, on the other hand, am a daughter of the Nelson family.”
“Remember that piece of land in the West City you wanted? I could help you get it with just one word from my uncle, Can North do that? What can she help you with?”
Ryan’s last remaining wall of resistance crumbled under the weight of her words.
His tone softened.
“You think you can help me?”
Green nodded eagerly.

“Of course. All I need to do is flatter my uncle, and it’s done.”
Ryan’s thoughts became more muddled.
He didn’t want to let go of North.
But he didn’t want to let go of that piece of land either.
In the end.
he opened his arms to catch Green, who had thrown herself toward him, gently pulling her into his
embrace.
is voice was soft, “Don’t be so willful from now on.”
“Mm.”
Green nodded in satisfaction.
Ryan paused, then asked, “When can you take me to see your uncle?”
“I’ll ask him when he’s free.”
“Alright, I’ll wait for you.”
