Chapter 10
Hodded.
The atmosphere became stagnant for a moment, and I started to feel a bit impatient.
Skyla couldn’t bear to watch and she pushed Theodore forward.
“Theo, say it quickly.”
“You said that you have been thinking about her every moment in these years, that she is your favorite person, and that you have been torturing yourself to atone for your sins.”
Skyla cried with tears streaming down her face.
Theodore didn’t say a word, he just looked at my husband and daughter.
He asked me, “Was he good to you?”
I saw Theodore’s pretentious look and couldn’t help but stab him.
“Theodore, who are you trying to show your sadness to now? You are just trying to move yourself.”
“Didn’t you already get married? Since you got married, you should treat your wife and children better. Can’t you see how hard they are living?”
Once doted on, Skyla’s skin on her hands became rough and weathered. In just a few years, she aged
at least ten years.
The little boy was so thin that his bones were visible, as if he would fall down with just a gust of
wind.
That little girl, dressed messily, was only three or four years old and still put her fingers in her
mouth.
And Theodore, ever since the Tanner family went bankrupt.
I indulged in self–destruction, smoking and drinking excessively, relying on my parents and wife
for support.
How could a man who lacks responsibility love someone so deeply?
He simply couldn’t accept the present life.
I regretted the wrong choice I made between me and Skyla.
Create a sentimental persona for oneself to escape from reality.
“This kind of man, I felt my eyes were tainted just by looking at him.
Shortly after we left, we heard the sound of children’s fright and crying behind us.

Theodore threw everything on Skyla’s table out.
After venting, he squatted on the ground, holding his head and crying in pain.
Skyla stood by, feeling heartbroken, and tears streamed down her face. The two children also cried along with her.
After Theodore finished crying, he stood and stared in the direction I had disappeared for a long
time.
Finally, he stumbled up the stairs.
“The wine is gone, buy me a bottle of wine and bring it up.‘
Seeing Theodore stop crying, Skyla happily took out money from her purse and gave it to the little
boy.
“Go and buy two bottles of good wine for your father.”
The little boy refused and was slapped on the back by Skyla.
“A bastard who knows not where he came from, if you don’t start behaving, I will kick you out of
this house!”
The little girl next to Skyla clung to her brother’s leg and cried out.
“Don’t let brother leave, don’t let brother leave.”
Skyla immediately softened her voice and started soothing the little girl.
When the boy turned around, a large stream of tears fell down.
I walked alone towards the direction of the supermarket in the end.
I stared at the boy’s back for a long time and suddenly remembered my childhood.
We are the same, always being treated differently.
My daughter beside me reached out her chubby little hand and wrapped it around my neck, soft asking, “Mommy, what are you looking at?”
I smiled, and the former Matilda scattered in the wind.
