Chapter 4
Shirley woke up.
He hobbled out with a limp to find him.
“Robert.”
Her eyes were moist, and her slender body leaned against the door.
Robert snapped out of it and caught her, “How did you get out of bed by yourself? Isn’t your burned leg hurting anymore?”
“Ouch.”
She pouted and said, “But when I wake up and can’t see you, I get scared.”
Robert’s brow furrowed deeper, showing some displeasure, but he still remained patient.
“Shirley, don’t say such things,” he said.
Shirley was startled.
Biting my lip, tears were swirling in my eyes.
No matter who saw it, the stubborn look would soften their hearts.
Sure enough, Robert sighed and comforted her, “If Carissa hears this, she will be unhappy again.”
But I had already heard it.
But it’s not that I wasn’t unhappy.
I was just feeling extremely sour in my heart.
Robert has never had much patience with me.
If it was me, it was because he taught me a lesson by slapping my face.
He would only move the blanket to the second bedroom with a cold face, living separately in a cold
war.
When I couldn’t bear it anymore, I would lower my head to coax him.
The same thing happened to Shirley.
Completely different.
The usually proud Robert, surprisingly, also lowered his head to please others.
I floated in the air, watching these two people.

I felt as if my heart had collapsed.
shirley’s injury was not serious.
I could be discharged from the hospital after a few days of observation.
On the day when he helped her check out of the hospital, Robert’s complexion was very bad.
There is no other reason, Robert couldn’t reach me.
I called my phone, but it was always out of service.
This was something that had never happened before.
His assistant wheeled Shirley over in a wheelchair.
Shirley pouted slightly and asked, “Robert, what’s wrong?”
Robert put down his phone and patted her head, saying, “It’s nothing major, let’s go.‘
He took Shirley home..
I was absent–minded all the way.
I floated over to take a look, and Robert was tapping the armrest of the chair with his fingers.
This was his expression of having something on his mind.
“Robert?”
Shirley called him with her head tilted.
Robert’s hand paused, his voice soft, “What’s wrong?”
“I lost my keys.”
Shirley’s face turned red, “What I mean is, the key might have been lost during the gas explosion
and my leg got injured. It’s also inconvenient to go to the property management to get a
replacement…”
“Can I, stay at your house for a while?”
Robert frowned, “Carissa is still at home, it’s not convenient for you to go.”
“Robert…”
Shirley grumbled, “I felt that Carissa didn’t like me, she must have misunderstood me. It’s a good
‘opportunity for me to clear up the misunderstanding with Carissa.”
“After all, we will have long–term contact in the future, don’t you think?”

Shirley looked at him eagerly.
Robert hesitated for a moment and said, “Carissa’s temper was a bit strange.”
“It’s okay.”
Shirley stuck out her tongue and looked confident, “I will definitely be able to win her approval. We
grew up together, and if I could win your affection, I can surely win Carissa’s too.”
“After all, you are a couple, so your preferences must be aligned, right?”
I don’t know which sentence Shirley said moved him.
Robert’s brow relaxed and he nodded, “Give it a try.”
