Chapter 5
As we approached the door of the ward, Vincent suddenly grabbed my hand, trapping me between
himself and the wall.
His gaze was complicated, and his voice was slightly hoarse as he asked, “What did you say to
him?”
I wanted to break free, but Vincent exerted a little force and pushed me back down.
“Vincent, this is the hospital.”
“I knew it, of course.”
Vincent remained unaffected, pressing his body tightly against mine.
The face was also tightly pressed against my ear, and the voice carried a hint of danger.
I guessed his hidden thoughts, he was the president of Atkinson Pharmaceutical.
With his status and position, he did not allow his wife to get too close to other men.
I smiled bitterly and said, “Vincent, I didn’t have the same dirty thoughts as you, nor did I have the
same mood.”
“Don’t worry, I wouldn’t have any affair with anyone before our divorce.”
After saying that, I pushed him aside and turned around to enter the ward.
Vincent followed and pushed the door open, and as soon as he entered, he frowned. “It’s not a single
room after all.”
The stepmother moved a chair for him and whispered softly, “Please sit down, I’ll have Chelsea
peel some fruit for you.” Because of my father’s condition, I reluctantly served Vincent with a
resentful heart.
Vincent sat down and talked with my dad. He was usually indifferent towards me, but he appeared
flawless in front of my dad.
He had been rolling in the business world for several years, and as long as he had the intention to
please, it was easy to make people have a good impression of him.
My dad has always liked him.
When Vincent suggested changing hospitals, he still refused and smiled at Vincent.
I stopped fussing around, this place is nice, and Dr. Crane is also very responsible.”
Vincent had a good sense of measure and did not insist. “It’s fine if Dad is used to it.”

Not long after exchanging greetings, when I handed him the peeled apple, he stood up and spoke to my father instead.
“Well, I’ll take Chelsea back first, Dad. Take care of yourself.”
My father nodded.

Vincent took me downstairs, and the evening sunset dyed the luxury car a deep red, shining
brightly.
I was pushed onto the car by Vincent, and I wanted to get off, but my wrist was held down by him.
Vincent remained composed, and from outside the car, one could not tell that he had exerted such
great force.
I couldn’t move at all, indicating the clear distinction of strength between men and women. As soon
as I gave up struggling, Vincent finally let go of my hand and quietly lit a cigarette in the car.
My breath was slightly uneven as I looked at his profile.
The dim light cast a shadow on his profile.
Vincent’s good looks, coupled with his status, easily made women fall for him.
I vaguely remembered that it was precisely this face that fascinated me back then.
After a while, he extinguished the cigarette and took out a velvet box from his pocket. He opened it,
revealing a diamond ring inside.
My throat tightened, it was the wedding ring I had sold that night, Vincent bought it back.
Vincent stared at my face, not missing any subtle changes in my expression.
It was as if they wanted to see through my skin and flesh.
After a long while, he spoke lightly, “Put your hand out, put on the ring, and then come home with
me.”
“I treated the past as if it had never happened, you are still Mrs. Atkinson.”
He rarely showed generosity, but I refused it.
I curled my palm, expressing my refusal directly through this action.
Vincent’s patience was running thin. “What exactly do you want?” I replied softly, “Divorce, I want to divorce you.”
As soon as the words fell, silence filled the car.
For a long time, Vincent fastened his seatbelt and glanced at me sideways.

I turned my face away and didn’t give him a glance.
Vincent looked for a while and lightly stepped on the accelerator.
The vehicle was driving smoothly, and the lights on both sides were slowly receding.
He clearly wanted to talk to me about something, but I never engaged in the conversation
