Chapter 7
When I was finally able to get out of bed, my friend discussed my future plans with me and asked what I
wanted to do next.
After thinking for a while, Elena added:
“Ares contacted me. He’s looking for a manager.
Ares? The rising star in the Go world, whose rapid development was almost rivaling Yancy’s?
She saw the doubt in my eyes and smiled.
“Yes, the very same Ares you’re thinking of.”
“He only has two years to achieve success in his beloved field of Go before he has to return home to take over the family business. That’s why he’s so focused on the upcoming competitions. He’s been eagerly trying to get you to be his manager.”
I thought for a moment and nodded.
I had managed to help Yancy rise to the top, so there was no reason I couldn’t do the same for Ares.
After spending a month at the rehabilitation center, I returned to my country with Elena.
At the airport, I met Ares, who had come to pick me up, along with Yancy.
Yancy’s face was a mix of dark blue and black, his lips as white as paper, his cracked and horrifyingly dry skin like that of a living corpse, and he no longer had the allure of being the most handsome player in the
Go world.
When I handed my suitcase to Ares, he reached out and grabbed my sleeve, his voice full of desperation:
“Ana, please don’t ignore me. Can you give me a chance to explain?”
I smiled.
“What do you need to explain? That you didn’t sleep with Xena? Or that you didn’t give her a one-time
engagement ring? Or perhaps the child in my belly isn’t yours?”
He shook his head frantically.
“No, I didn’t. I’m innocent with her, we didn’t do anything…”

I looked at him with disdain and played a video from my phone,
There he was, on top of Nena, intoxicated with passion, repeatedly whispering, “Xena, baby, it feels so
good.”
The once calm and collected genius Go player trembled, his brow furrowed in anxiety, denying
everything
“It’s impossible! This is fake. Ana, you have to believe me! This video has been edited, it’s not me! You have to believe me!”
He continued shamelessly lying.
But in my eyes, all I saw was coldness,
“Yancy, we grew up together, you know me. I can’t tolerate any sand in my eyes. The moment you decided to let me carry your child while having Xena’s child, we were done.
I am not your tool. I used to want nothing more than to have a child with you. But now, I hate you. As for
divorce, don’t ever show your face in front of me again.”
He trembled, looking at me with pleading eyes.
“That’s not true. How could I let you have someone else’s child? Ana, you know how much I love you…”
Seeing that I was unmoved, he completely disregarded his dignity and was about to kneel, but Ares stopped him.
As they struggled, his assistant ran over with a document in hand, panting and almost out of breath.
“Yancy, Ana, we found out. Xena made a private deal with the hospital. She secretly switched the
embryos!”
Yancy’s eyes shone with hope, like he had found a savior, and he looked at me excitedly, as if he were a
child.
“Ana, I didn’t lie to you. It wasn’t me! I would never do something like this! How could I let you carry
someone else’s child? Please come back with me. Let’s start over. It doesn’t matter if we don’t have a
child.”
He tried to grab my hand again, but Ares stepped in to block him.
His eyes were full of rage. “Ana, how could you be with him? You and he–there’s nothing between you, right?”
I could no longer hold back. I shouted at him, “Yancy! Don’t think just because you did something dirty,

everyone else is just as filthy as you!”
“If you fell in love with someone else, I would support you, but you shouldn’t have lied to me!”
“When you and Xena were fooling around on the plane, did you ever think about how much it would
hurt me?”
“We grew up together. You know what kind of person I am. I can’t tolerate betrayal, but you still hid your
affair from me!”
“When you and her were rolling in bed, did you think about how miserable I would be?”
“I won’t ever want you again, Yancy. You don’t deserve me!”
1 roared, tears streaming down my face.
All the grievances, sadness, and anger poured out at the man I had once loved the most, and who had
hurt me the most.
I trusted him so much, but it was he who slowly destroyed our bond, making me a fool, a traitor, and the subject of ridicule.
“No, I don’t love her! How could I love her! She used all kinds of methods to seduce me. I was just
temporarily bewitched…. Ana, you have to believe me. I’ve never had any other woman in my heart. I
only love you. Please give me one more chance, okay?”
