Chapter 100
Allison frowned, picking up on the impatience in Emily’s voice. Was she suggesting that not forgiving someone was unreasonable?
Just as Allison was about to speak, Joshua jumped in, “Grandma, what are you saying? Whether Allison forgives Lillian or not is up to her. No one should pressure her.”
Emily’s eyes narrowed with displeasure. “Joshua, are you blaming me?”
“Not at all,” Joshua replied, cool as ever. “I’m just saying, don’t put pressure on Allison.”
Allison watched Joshua stand up for her against Emily and didn’t hesitate any longer. She quickly said, “Alright, alright, I forgive her.”
She shot a glance at Joshua, giving his hand a gentle squeeze as if to say, “Let’s not argue with Grandma.”
Joshua got the message, and the tension in his eyes eased.
Lillian watched this unfold, her frustration boiling over. ‘Allison, someday, I’ll make you disappear from this world!‘
In the dead of night, Allison was jolted awake by a phone call. She fumbled around under her pillow for her phone, squinting as she drowsily answered.
A burst of chaotic noise hit her ear.
Allison groaned, pulling the phone away a bit, her irritation spiking. “Who is this?” she snapped, not thrilled about being woken up.
Silence.
“Say something!”
Still nothing, just the noisy background.
She struggled to focus on the caller ID, which was an unknown number.
“Shawn?” she asked, already annoyed.
Finally, a response. Shawn’s voice was hoarse, slurred from too much drinking. “Allison, I feel so terrible. Why won’t you just come back to me? I really love you. Please, just come to me. It hurt so muchl.”
Allison’s anger hit a boiling point. Her sleep was already fragile, and she’d finally drifted into a wonderful dream, only to have Shawn’s call yank her awake.
She had work in the morning!
She almost hung up right away but felt too wound up to let it slide. “Shawn, are you out of your mind? If you’re feeling so bad, just go away! Stop dumping your problems on me. If you’re sick, get help. If not, then leave me alone. I’m done with this!”
Surprisingly, Shawn wasn’t fazed by her outburst. He chuckled, “Allison, I must be losing it because all I can think about is you. I do want to die; it’s killing me that you don’t love me. But if I die, I won’t get to see you anymore.”
“You’re insane!” Allison shouted, ending the call. She hit the mute button on her phone and flipped it over, determined to get back to sleep.
…
Meanwhile, at the bar, Shawn was completely plastered. Two glitzy women were cozied up next to him, each trying to get closer.

Chapter 100
“Hey, you’re drunk. Let me take you somewhere to rest,” the woman on his left said, her hand drifting across his
chest.
“Honey, how about I keep you company tonight?” the woman on his right murmured, her voice dripping with seduction as she leaned into him.
Kate walked in just in time to see the scene. “Get lost!” she shouted, her anger boiling over. “All of you, get away from my man!”
The two women quickly backed off, not wanting to mess with the queen bee.
Kate glared at the completely wasted Shawn, took a deep breath to steady herself, and helped him out of the
bar.
