Chapter 21
Isabella hurriedly stepped out of the house with a piece of bread in her mouth when she heard Olivia calling her from behind. She mumbled a few “mm–hmms” in response.
She had woken up late again and would likely be the last one to arrive at the studio. Reflecting on this made her feel a bit guilty. Being a freelancer, especially as a boss, often led to laziness. As she reached the front door, she bumped into Xavier, who was returning from his morning
jog.
She drove past him without exchanging a word. Every moment since their reunion felt strange -sometimes familiar, yet at other times, it was as if they were strangers.
At 9:00 am, Isabella received a message from Liam saying that they were willing to establish a long–term partnership with Myndra Creations. She was so pleased that she treated everyone
to lunch.
Theodore handled the contract signing.
By 3:30 pm, Isabella returned home. Olivia had arranged for a professional styling team- about seven or eight people to come over, and they spent the next two to three hours fussing over her in a vacant room on the second floor. By the time they finished, she was so sleepy that she yawned nonstop.
Looking in the mirror, she saw herself in a light pink strapless short tulle dress with a cute bow at the neckline. Her hair was elegantly styled, and her face looked refined and beautiful playful and lovely all at once.
The look was entirely in line with Olivia’s taste.
Isabella had no strong opinions about it. She turned her head to look at Olivia, who wore a satisfied expression, so she felt it was all good.
As dusk fell, a car from the Valdez family stopped in front of a five–star hotel, and a waiter hurried over to open the door for them. Isabella stepped out first and then turned back to take Olivia’s arm. They looked more like affluent sisters than a mother and daughter.
Melodious music filled the hotel lobby.
“Olivia.” A beautifully dressed woman approached them.
Isabella looked over, recognizing the hostess‘ outfit–the woman was Stacy Hills.
The engagement banquet was being held for her son, Jaydon Moore. Rumor had it that he and
his fiancée were childhood sweethearts–both talented and attractive.
Isabella scanned the room, curious about how the engaged couple would make their grand
entrance.
“Congratulations! The Moore family is gaining another daughter–in–law,” Olivia said, beaming with a smile.
“May you soon find a daughter–in–law and gain a good son–in–law, too,” Stacy replied, turning her cheerful gaze toward Isabella as she spoke the latter part.
Isabella returned a polite smile.
“Let’s hope for that,” Olivia said.
As the two exchanged pleasantries, Isabella noticed a pretty and graceful girl walking toward them. Before she could react, Stacy called out, “Abigail, come here.”
In an instant, Isabella understood that this young woman was the star of the engagement banquet.
Abigail Garcia approached with a polite smile, greeting all three of them before standing obediently beside Stacy.
It was said that she was very much in love with her fiancé.
Isabella couldn’t help but examine her a bit more closely. She exuded a clean, gentle demeanor that was quite likable. Despite her smile, Isabella sensed that she didn’t seem entirely happy
