Shana got straight to the point, and then sincerely asked. “Tll pay you double for your ticket to make up for the inconvenience. Could you let me have it?”
The man stayed quiet for a moment.
Trying not to wince, Shana nervously held up three lingers. “How about triple?”
He let out a small laugh, his expression softening. It was only then that Shana noticed how good–looking. he was. His gentle single felt like a warm spring breeze, making her relax a little.
No need You can have it, he said.
Even his voice was calm and soothing, like a flowing stream.
Shana was beyond grateful. “Thank you so much! I really appreciate it. Wishing you all the best!”
The staff sorted out their tickets, and as boarding had already started, Shana quickly added the man on WhatsApp and rushed off.
He stood there for a moment, watching her run off like a little rabbit, a smile slowly forming on his face.
By the time Shana got to the hospital, it was already late. Brian was outside in the hallway, looking worried and smoking a cigarette.
She rushed over, her voice full of concern. “Uncle Brian, what’s going on?”
Brian sighed in relief when he saw her, angrily putting our his cigarette. “That kid got into a fight.
“Is Ryan alright?”
“He’s fine, just a few scrapes, Brian replied, clearly annoyed.
“Then why did you call me back in such a hurry?”
“Because he broke the other guy’s bones! And that guy is the son of the Grants!”
The Floyds were the top powerhouse in Portchester, and the Grants were right behind them, with plenty of influence. No wonder her uncle was so stressed.
Brian continued, “Mrs. Grant refuses to settle. She’s dead set on pressing charges and wants Ryan locked up. I tried to talk to her, but she wouldn’t even meet me
Shana looked up and noticed two bodyguards standing by the hospital room door.

“Shana, Ryan is still so young and just got into that great university. We can’t let him end. criminal record,” Brian said, grabbing her hand. “You have to help him!”
up with a
Shana was confused. Even though Ryan had been pampered by his parents and could be a bit full of himself, he was a good kid with a strong sense of right and wrong. He wasn’t someone who picked fights or caused trouble.
How did he get into a fight for no reason?
“Did Ryan say why he got into a fight?
Brian was fumming. That kid won’t say a word about why he fought. After being released on bail, he just
locked himself in his room”
“Okay, I get it”
Shana took a deep breath. “It’s late. Let’s go home. I’ll talk to Ryan and find out what happened.”
Early the next morning, Shana knocked on Ryan’s door but got no answer.
She rolled her eyes and opened the door, walking in. He quickly pulled the covers over himself.
Shana tried to pull the blanket off, but couldn’t. Standing by the bed, she looked down at him and said. “Come on, spill it. Why’d you get into a light?”
Ryan stayed quiet.
Shana stared at him with a blank face. “Are you going to tell me, or do I need to give you a beating first?”
A few seconds later, Ryan mumbled, “That kid deserved a beating!”
As soon as he said that, Shana kicked him, demanding, Spill it!”
Ryan stayed silent.
Shana was getting frustrated with his refusal to cooperate. “So, you’re planning to just stay quiet and end up in jail, huh? Fine. If you’re going to act tough and hir people, you can handle the consequences yourself!
“What are you talking about?” Gillian, Brian’s wife, stormed in. She glared at Shana with hands on her hips and her usual sharp tone.
“He got into this mess because of you and now you want him to end up in jail? What kind of cousin are you? After all we’ve done for you, this is how you repay us? What an ungrateful—”
Ryan jumped up, cutting off Gillian. “Mom, stop making stuff up! My fighi has nothing to do with Shana. That kid was annoying, so I hit him!”
Gillian got more enraged. “You little troublemaker! I’ve already talked to your classmates. It was the Grant kid who was badmouthing Shana, and that’s why you fought him. You’re defending her, but what’s she ever done for you? Has she ever cared about you?”
“Okay, enough already,” Ryan said, pushing Gillian out of the room and shutting the door to keep her from saying more.

He turned back to Shana, scratching his messy hair. “Don’t worry about it. Mom-”
“Are you fighting because of me?” Shana asked, cutting him off and looking at him directly.
Ryan fell silent for a moment before he said stiffly. “No, it’s not.”

Shana already knew the answer. She nodded and said, “Got it. Go get ready, and later, you’re coming with me to the hospital to apologize.”
“But. I don’t- Ryan started to argue, but a sharp look from Shana made him stop and accept it.
Shana knew Mrs. Grant, Mira Lewis, from various events, but as a less favored Mrs. Floyd, she was usually ignored by the high society women.
So, it was no shock when they were turned away at the door.
Shana texted Cheryl to see if she could help get a message to Mira. Cheryl was well–liked and connected in social circles, and got along well with other ladies.
Cheryl agreed to help right away, but an hour later she called back and said, “Shana, sorry, but Mrs. Grant is really mad. As soon as she heard it was about this issue, she hung up on me. I’m out of ideas.”
After a moment, she added quietly, “Actually, there’s only one person who might be able to convince Mrs. Grant to be lentent.”
Shana knew exactly who that person was–Henry.
