Chapter Eight
The day before Sarah and Matt’s wedding.
I dragged my weary body home, only to find her in an embrace with a man at the front door.
The man had beady eyes and a thin frame. holding Sarah tightly while spewing disgusting and lewd remarks.
“Sarah, I love you! You can’t marry him; you belong to me, only me!”
Despite his small stature, he seemed to possess great strength, trapping Sarah in his grasp no matter how much she struggled.
“Please, I’ll give you money! Just stop bothering me, okay? I’ll give you whatever

you want!”
Tears streamed down Sarah’s face, her whole body shaking uncontrollably.
The man refused to release her, a cruel glint flashing in his eyes.
“You’re mine! You gave yourself to me back then, allowing me to bully Kelly! Now you want to ditch me for a happy life? Not a chance!”
I remembered him now.
He was the scrawny man who had lurked outside my house when Sarah brought Matt home, the very first boy to lead the charge against me during my childhood.
My heart trembled at the scene unfolding before me.

Sarah’s tears fell like rain, relentless and abundant, splattering against the ground.
“Is anyone there?! Help me! Aahhh!”
She screamed until her voice was raw.
Tomorrow, she was supposed to marry, as if she could grasp a lifetime of happiness in her hands.
She absolutely could not lose hope here.
But it was already late at night, and there was no one around.
No matter how much Sarah shouted, she failed to draw even a single soul’s attention.
Was this her comeuppance?

In that moment, that was the only thought in my mind.
Watching her expression of despair and fear, I even imagined her being torn apart, dying a dirty and tragic death.
A flood of confusion washed over me.
How had I become such a cold–hearted person?
Kindness and malice clashed like two wild beasts, recklessly charging at one another, determined to emerge the victor in a fight to the death.
Just as the man was about to force Sarah into the car, I finally dashed forward without a second thought.
I collided with him, knocking him to the

ground for a brief moment of confusion.
“Run!”
I turned to Sarah, my voice hoarse from shouting.
Upon seeing me, she froze for an instant before turning and fleeing into the night.
In no time, she vanished into the darkness.
Before I could process what had happened, the man tackled me from behind.
I was no match for his strength; I couldn’t resist him, no matter how desperately I struggled.
He shoved me into a van, quickly binding my hands and feet with rope and stuffing a filthy rag into my mouth.

“Since you’re so full of compassion, let’s see you take her place in death!” The man glared at me, slamming the back door shut.
He drove me to an abandoned factory, violating my body over and over again until I bled and could no longer endure.
Why did he finally stop?
I couldn’t remember.
I only recalled that he stopped and stepped outside for a moment.
Seizing the opportunity, I crawled toward my phone that lay discarded on the ground.
The pain coursing through me made it hard to focus, but I managed to fumble and type two words.

“Help me.”
No one came to rescue me.
When the man returned, he dismembered me, transporting my body parts to various locations.
Some floated downriver to other cities; some were tossed into a landfill, awaiting compaction; others sank into the sewers, mingling with the stench of garbage.
I watched as my body was taken away, and then my soul clung to my parents nearby.
