Ella POV
Over the next few days, I looked into all of the Gammas we had talked about before, and I found absolutely no indication that any of them were disloyal, which honestly left me feeling a little more nervous. Whoever the traitor was, they were hiding well.
I also periodically checked my messages from Alexander, but after his “thanks,” I hadn’t received anything It was almost getting me anxious. Have I picked the wrongly?
It was late, and I was already showered and in my pajamas. should have been lying down and trying to get some rest, but I just couldn’t quiet my mind. I pulled my phone out and impulsively sent a quick message to Alexander. “Any news?” I asked.
A moment later, my phone started to ring. It was a video call from Alexander..
Before I could put much thought into it, I accepted the call When I saw myself on the screen, I realized that I was wearing my bright yellow bunny–print pajamas, a gift from Amanda
Alexander laughed immediately, and I could feel my face heating up with embarrassment. “Don’t laugh at me,” I said defensively. “I wasn’t expecting a video call, or I wouldn’t be dressed like this.”
“Sorry,” he said. “I was just finishing up a video meeting. Since it seemed you wanted to talk, I thought this would be easier and more efficient.”
He was wearing a dark suit and had his glasses on, which made him look very professional and somehow even more attractive. I needed to keep myself focused, not let my embarrassment or his good looks take me off track. We had far more important things to deal with.
“How are things going in the investigation?” I asked
“I have to hand it to David–he’s very good at hiding things,” Alexander said. “None of my resources have provided any solid proof just yet, but I think I have a way around it. We’ll need to have a discussion about it face–to- -face.”
“We can’t meet in public,” I pointed out. “That would raise David’s suspicions.”
Alexander was his biggest rival, and as far as anyone knew had no previous acquaintances with Alexander. If we were going to talk in person, we would have to keep it secret.
“Maybe we can meet during the council,” I suggested.
“You’re planning to attend the Alpha Council?” he said with surprise, then paused thoughtfully. “Good. Since you’re about to become my Luna, you should be prepared.”
“It’s about more than becoming anyone’s Luna,” I said calmly. “I plan to become the Alpha of my own pack. I told you that before. I’ll agree to any terms except for giving up my pack’s inheritance rights.”
Alexander raised his eyebrow at me but nodded approving “I’ll see you at the council,” he said, and then the call
I stared at the screen for a few moments, thinking about how much everything had changed.

I was still nervous about the meeting, but I found it surprisingly easy to fall asleep after our conversation.
The next morning seemed like a blur. I dressed in my new green suit and skirt, pinning my hair up carefully to keep it neat and out of the way. Then my father and I headed to the council meeting.
I expected to see a lot of familiar faces there, as I knew that David would be attending with his father, and Amanda and some of her siblings would likely be there as well. I wasn’t looking forward to seeing them, but I knew that I would have to try to appear as normal as possible,
When we arrived, there were already a lot of people in the lobby of the building, talking and greeting each other as they waited for the official meeting to begin.
1 could feel people turning to look and stare at me as I walked confidently beside my father. Everyone could tell that there was something different about me; I just hoped that it didn’t seem too different.
“Who is this plain, unfamiliar person with you?” I heard Amanda’s voice call out jokingly as she approached us. Why aren’t you wearing the dress?”
“I’m just trying to change my vibe,” I said with a smile. “I think since I’m getting married, it’s time to give up childish things.”
She glared at me, but I ignored it.-
It seemed we had arrived just in time because I barely had time to reply to Amanda before people started moving into the meeting room.
I saw David walk in with his father, and a few seconds later, Alexander walked in alone. His father had passed away some time ago, and he never brought anyone with him to these meetings..
As we made our way towards the entrance, several people stopped to compliment my new look and praise me for accompanying my father. I could see a proud smile on my father’s face as he accepted the compliments and greetings. When we were alone for a moment, I turned to him.
“I’m glad that I can finally make you proud,” I said.
My father shook his head slightly. “I’ve always been proud of you,” he said sincerely.
I felt tears sting my eyes, but I forced myself to hold them back. My father put one arm around me in a quick hug, and I thanked the goddess again that she had given me this second chance. I had missed him so much.
We walked in together, and everyone was seated around a long rectangular table. The official words were said to start the meeting. The Alpha King was sitting at the head of the table with a stern look on his face.
“What business should we begin with?” he asked.
Then David’s father stood and fixed his eyes on me.
I hadn’t actually spoken to him since I had embarrassed him on the day of the proposal, and I was sure that he was still angry about it and wanted some kind of revenge..
