At that moment, not just Lucas but also Knox, Azalea, Cherry, the security guards, and everyone else in the room were all focused on Celine, the company’s CEO.
They were eagerly awaiting a word from their CEO, Ms. Xavier, but inwardly, they all felt sure that Celine would not be swayed by Lucas’s words.
Come on, Knox had been with the company for years and was the head of security, a key member of the
team.
How could someone like him be fired simply based on a word from her driver?
Just as this thought crossed everyone’s mind, a cool, melodious voice broke the silence.
“Ms. Zephyr, please process Mr. Watts’s resignation, terminate his contract, and issue his severance pay for the past six months.”
Celine spoke with an air of calm authority.
However, her decision left everyone utterly bewildered.
She had unexpectedly taken her driver’s side, and without any hesitation!
She hadn’t consulted anyone or heard Knox’s defense or explanation.
In that instant, her actions appeared to respond to Lucas with two words, “Well done!”
After Celine made her announcement, the room fell into a brief silence before erupting into an uproar.
“Ms. Xavier, this-”
Azalea was hesitated and troubled.
“Do as I say,” Celine replied with unwavering authority.
Hearing the CEO’s indifferent tone, Knox’s expression darkened. Frustrated, he shouted, “Ms. Xavier, why should I be fired? Just because of a word from your driver?”
Celine’s expression was frosty. “He doesn’t have the authority to influence my decision. Letting you go is solely my choice.”
Lucas, initially feeling pleased and thinking that his wife was showing him a favor, suddenly felt unhappy upon hearing her words.
“Is this really your decision, Ms. Xavier?” Knox replied, his indignation evident.
“That’s right. Everyone saw what happened. When someone was getting physical with me, you, as the head of security, stood by and did nothing. Why should I keep you?”
Her voice was cold and commanding as she pressed on.
As her words hung in the air, Azalea and the other employees exchanged glances.

Chapter 27 Firing Knox
They realized that her decision stemmed from this incident, not from her arrogant driver.

Upon hearing this, Knox’s expression soured, but he still stubbornly argued, “Ms. Xavier, I refuse to accept this!”
“What are you refusing? I didn’t hire you as head of security to stand by and watch when trouble arises,” Celine replied calmly, exuding her domineering CEO demeanor.
Lucas observed Celine at that moment, silently appreciating her undeniable charm.
Knox’s expression fluctuated as he persisted, “Ms. Xavier, the reason I stood by was that I believed you weren’t in any real danger. I know the Kane Group has a partnership with the Xavier Group, so I hesitated. I was considering the company’s best interests. If Jacob had truly harmed you, I would have intervened without hesitation, I promise.”
He changed his tone and said with sincerity, “I admit I was negligent earlier, and I sincerely apologize, Ms. Xavier. I hesitated because I believed you were not in any real danger. If that warrants my dismissal, I truly cannot accept it.”
Looking around the room, he raised his voice, adding, “I believe everyone makes mistakes at work from time to time, right? If anyone can be fired for a minor error, then I ask, who would be willing to fully commit to the company? Who could possibly feel secure in their role?”
Once Knox finished speaking, the atmosphere in the room became charged, with many people beginning to murmur among themselves.
:
“Yeah, I really don’t think firing Mr. Watts is necessary, do you?”
“If they can let someone in middle management go so easily, then any of us could be next.”
“We all need to be more careful.”
“I had an offer from another company before, but I turned it down because I thought our benefits were better. Now, I think I should keep that contact information just in case.”
At that moment, doubt began to creep into the hearts of the employees.
Seeing this shift, a fleeting look of triumph flashed across Knox’s face.
Meanwhile, Celine’s brows knitted together slightly, a rare expression of concern appearing on her otherwise flawless features.
If the morale of the company collapsed completely, any discussions of progress would be futile. Perhaps her decision to dismiss Knox had indeed been a bit hasty.
With that thought in mind, she turned her beautiful gaze toward Lucas, glaring at him fiercely.
While she claimed that firing Knox was her own decision, deep down, Celine knew she had been influenced by that scoundrel.
