Millie’s sudden comment took Celine by surprise, catching her off guard for a moment.
They had been discussing business, yet Millie had shifted the conversation elsewhere.
However, since Celine was the one hoping to secure Millie’s endorsement, she didn’t mind engaging in some small talk to build a connection.

Celine responded graciously, “Your complexion is just as exquisite. Considering how often you wear makeup and undergo skincare treatments, maintaining such perfect skin is truly impressive. You’re the real beauty here.”
The two exchanged compliments before Millie let out a soft chuckle and adopted a more serious demeanor.
“Ms. Xavier, the payment isn’t an issue. If you agree to one condition, I’ll sign the contract with your company immediately,” she said.
Celine’s expression turned sharp. “Oh? What condition?”
So, that was what the conversation had been leading up to.
“Are you familiar with Mr. Tucker from Trisareth?” Millie asked.
“Mr. Tucker?” Celine raised an eyebrow. “You mean the one from Riddlemart Corporation?”
“Exactly.” Millie nodded.
“I’ve met him briefly before,” Celine admitted, though a flicker of unease crossed her delicate features. “Why do you ask?”
Her mind flashed back to a business event in Trisareth, where she had encountered Nelson Tucker.
His overly eager gaze and aggressive behavior had put her on edge.
Nelson’s influence was undeniable, particularly in Trisareth, where he was regarded as a powerful figure. Celine knew better than to offend him outright, so back then, she had no choice but to remain courteous.
Now, with Millie bringing up his name, an uneasy feeling crept over her.
“Mr. Tucker has been quite taken with you since your last encounter,” Millie said with a pleasant smile. “He’s hosting a small gathering at his private estate soon and would love for you to attend. What do you think? If you agree, our partnership will be guaranteed.”
Lucas, who had been quietly eating grapes, paused, his eyes flashing coldly.
Celine, who had been wearing a polite smile throughout the conversation, finally let it fade. Her brows knitted together slightly.

“I’m sorry, but my schedule is packed. I won’t be able to make it,” she responded, her tone calm but firm.
“Ms. Xavier, Mr. Tucker means no harm. He simply wishes to get to know you better,” Millie reassured her gently. “His gatherings attract many influential figures, and attending could be a great opportunity for you to expand your network. Why not consider it?”
Celine shook her head without hesitation, her voice turning sharper. “No, thank you. I don’t need that.”
She hadn’t expected Millie to make such a request–what exactly did she take her for?
It was obvious that Nelson had ulterior motives, and there was no way she would walk into a situation like that.
Seeing Celine’s resolute stance, Millie sighed. “In that case, I’m afraid our partnership will have to be put on hold.”
Celine remained composed as she stood up and extended her hand. “That’s fine. I hope we’ll have a chance to collaborate in the future.”
“I’ll be in Demonia for a few more days. I hope you’ll reconsider,” Millie said while shaking her hand.
Celine gave a vague smile before walking out of the private room. Lucas, still chewing on a grape, clicked his tongue, spat out the skin, and followed after her.
A couple of minutes later, inside the Rolls–Royce parked outside the business club, Celine’s cold voice rang

Celine wasn’t someone who easily showed her emotions, especially in front of those who worked for her. But for some reason, she found herself dropping her guard around Lucas.
If she was upset, she wouldn’t bother hiding it from him.
If she needed to vent, he could deal with it.
