Linda didn’t take what Nola said seriously. She thought that Nola’s remarks were just because she was too sad and drunk. After a night, she forgot the scene that happened in the bar.
After what happened during dinner last night, Tanya was getting more arrogant in front of Nola.
“You were confident yesterday, weren’t you? I thought you would never step into the company anymore. I just can’t wait to see what you can do with your capacity! Nola, you are destined to live under my shadow. Just accept the reality!”
After the regular meeting. Nola was kept as usual to face Tanya’s satire. Nola clenched her fists and listened to Tanya criticize the planning case that she had spent a lot of effort on.
“You should know what it means when you failed to get the investment of the Grayson Group. Don’t blame me for pushing you so hard. You missed a good chance and offended the Grayson Group. And our company will have a hard time. You can only rely on yourself for the medical fees of that woman.”
–
“You don’t have a say on this issue! You can’t make decisions about things in the Grant family.”
Tanya gave out a proud smile. She glanced at Nola while fiddling with her delicate fingernails. “The Lee family doesn’t even accept you. Do you think dad will listen to you or me? It’s unnecessary for that woman to live.”
Nola glared at Tanya. To save her mother’s life, she could bear anything.
The next second, the document was thrown in her face. “The talent you are proud of means nothing to me. Nola, even if you are capable, you are no more than an ordinary clerk here. Though I know nothing, I’m still a patronizing young mistress of the Lee family. That’s the biggest difference between us. Listen, if you cannot get the investment from Grayson Group, the Grant family won’t even accommodate you, let alone your mother! Get out!”
Tanya had expected the scene for a long time. It was her best recreation to humiliate Nola.
Tanya would never forget how the other children laughed at her that she didn’t have a father when she was little. Because of Nola, she had no way to live in the Grant family at that time.
When Tanya was taken back to the Grant family, she swore to herself that she’d snatch everything that belonged to Nola and step on Nola forever.
Her mother told her that if she showed mercy to her enemy, she’d be knocked down in the next second. It didn’t matter how she made herself stand up high, and some means were also necessary. People would only pay attention to the outcome.
And the outcome for the time being was that she won the battle.
Nola said nothing but picked up the document and sorted it out. She gave Tanya a cold look and a sneer.
“It turns out that picking up the litter I threw makes you so happy”
Nola stood straight. She would never say uncle at any time. If Tanya thought the man she abandoned was good, she could give him to her,
“What do you mean?” Annoyed by Nola’s words, Tanya rose from the chair. Her delicate face with beautiful makeup twisted in anger.
“You don’t get it? Let me put it simply. A sparrow never knows how far an eagle wants to fly!*
Nola was a reasonable girl and never cursed anyone. She would not stoop to quarreling with such an idiot like Tanya. Nola clearly knew that Tanya just wanted to provoke her by saying so. Nola was not so silly as to fight with her in the office. The silence was her best counterstrike.
Nola’s response made Tanya mad.

Pushing her black frame glasses, Nola turned around and left. Tanya followed Nola’s steps and tried to say something. Yet seeing the eyes of people in the office, her anger was forced down. She put on an elegant smile and secretly clenched her
fists.
Nola, let’s wait and seel
Nola never yielded to her enemy, nor did she care about how other people thought of her.
Though Tanya didn’t get the answer she wanted just now, Nola believed that she would make her promise happen. If Tanya really said anything in front of her father, maybe her father would really vent his anger on her mother. So she had to take action ahead.
Putting down the document, Nola headed for her father’s office. She had to talk about this issue with her father.
After reporting, the secretary asked Nola to get in. Myles was reading the document carefully when Nola came in. He frowned as if there was something tough.
She didn’t come at a good time?
Yet Nola thought whether her father was in a good mood or not, it would make no difference to his attitude toward her.
“Mr. Grant, I have an important thing to tell you. Can you give me five minutes?” Myles always gave Nola a cold but he was a bit different today.
response.
“Nola, why did you come to me at this time? There are no outsiders. You don’t have to be this polite to me. Take a seat here.”
Myles‘ attitude was different from usual, which put Nola on her guard. She knew her father so well. If Myles wasn’t up to something, he wouldn’t have treated her like this.
Nola sat down with no expression on her face. The secretary served her a cup of coffee and closed the door.
“Nola, do you have anything to tell me?”
“Yes! The hospital has been urging me to pay the medical fees these days. Besides, the medical technologies overseas are advanced. I’ve consulted the doctors. Mom may recover abroad. I hope that you can think about it.”
Myles smirked and said, “It’s no big deal. I’ll ask the secretary to pay the fees later. And the treatment abroad… Fll think about it.
Nola suddenly turned nervous. Her father should decline her demand with the excuse that the company was going through a hard time if this conversation had happened before. Yet he promised without hesitation. Nola felt strange in her mind, but
she didn’t ask.
Myles continued to speak after a short silence, “Nola, I know that you are a capable girl. I think I misunderstood you yesterday about the meal. I don’t wanna interfere with your stuff too much. No matter what the truth is, I won’t blame you. But you know, the Lee family is satisfied with Tanya. I can do nothing to help.
“Dad, I know what you mean. We are not destined for each other. I think I made it clear yesterday.”
He had a stiff smile and added, “Look, Tanya has found her destined man. I won’t forget you. I’ve discussed it with Lelia and got you a perfect man. He has a fair family background, and his family is also satisfied with you, I promise they will treat you well.”
Nola sneered and thought, “How could I be that lucky to marry such an excellent man?”
She replied. “Thank you, dad.”
“You know what? Mr. Joan appreciates you a lot! His son is 30 years old. You are a perfect match! There are only two of them in the Joan family. You will be their hostess once you marry him. It’s the dream for many girls.”

The smile on Nola’s face suddenly stiffened. She knew it! The Joan family did well in business and gained a lot of wealth. But it was no secret that Mr. Joan’s son was born suffering from dementia, which was incurable.
