“I’m talking about work. Fiona couldn’t do her job well. Why can’t I talk to her?”
“Of course you can! But you are a designer. If you comment on other people’s design works like that, aren’t you afraid of being embarrassed one day? Nola got the design drafts in order and handed them to Fiona. She smiled at Fiona, signaling her to rest assured.
Nola had never been afraid of anyone. She only knew right from wrong.
“When did Fiona do her job well? I’m the boss. Can’t I talk to her?”
“Were you talking to her? You were venting your anger on her. I thought you would keep things professional. But I overrated you, and this is really disappointing. Are you born to do design? Everyone is different. You think your design is good. Maybe others think it’s also rubbish.”
Deborah’s face was distorted with anger, and her exquisite makeup seemed to be destroyed by anger anytime, revealing her true colors.
She tightly held the pen and stared at Nola angrily, “How dare you say that my design is rubbish?”
“I’m just telling the truth. One person’s design cannot satisfy everyone. In the eyes of those who don’t like it, it is rubbish. Just like you said that Fiona’s design was even worse than trash. Some people will think yours is also trash.”

The office went silent. Nola was the first one to talk to Deborah like that.

In others‘ eyes, Nola could be bold only because Elvis was backing her. How dare she say that if Elvis abandoned her one day? When she first came here, she served Deborah tea.
If others had such a good opportunity, they would dare to challenge Deborah. Claire just smiled. She was extraordinarily quiet in such turmoil, just watching the good show.
Fiona got close to Nola, making others jealous. They thought it was unfair that a person like Fiona had been sheltered. But they couldn’t say anything.
Nola took Fiona to sit in the tearoom, ignoring other people’s thoughts.

“Are you that afraid of Miss Garcia?”
“Talking back doesn’t do me any good. If Miss Garcia’s scolding could help me lose weight, I may thank her for saving me the time to lose weight.” Nola was speechless by her self–soothing skills.
Nola suddenly had an illusion, wondering if she shouldn’t have helped Fiona.
“I’m already numb. No one in this office will speak for me, and they don’t even want to talk to me. I’m just a dispensable person, doing my job and living a stable life until retirement. That makes me feel at ease.”
She thought very far, with a goal of retiring from Grayson Group without incident, not expecting more. A designer generally didn’t have such an idea. Everyone wanted to be the best, get all the attention, and become a household name.
“It’s good to be famous, but ordinary people have ordinary happiness.” Fiona smiled bitterly. “Even I don’t think I’m suitable for design, at least not suitable to be a designer in Grayson Group with so many competitive talents. If the design department lays off staff, everyone will probably first think of me!”
“Do you really think your design is that bad?”
“I learned a lot of things by myself and didn’t have conditions. I studied at night school and worked hard to get in. The environment here is not suitable for me, but the salary can meet my needs. Therefore, I would rather stay and be a punching bag.”

It was the first time Fiona talked to Nola so easily. They had their own stories, and neither mentioned their own matters. But they laughed tacitly.
