Aveline made a bet with herself.
If Alexander still loved her, her death would become her ultimate revenge against him.
Even if she really died, she wanted him to never find peace in his life!
Of course, if he didn’t love her, even if she told him about her illness, it would only be self–degradation
and would only make Nora laugh at her.
After leaving the house, Auntie Helen prepared a table full of delicious dishes, all of which she used to
enjoy.
Aveline invited Auntie Helen to eat together. Auntie Helen wiped her hands on her apron and sat beside Aveline, serving her soup. “This ginkgo lotus seed black–bone chicken soup was personally ordered by the young master. I told him, ‘Young Master, you are in her heart.“”
The table was filled with oily and spicy dishes, with the fragrance of chili and the numbness of Sichuan peppercorns permeating the air.
Aveline liked Sichuan cuisine, while Alexander liked Cantonese cuisine. In the past, their dining table would always have a few completely different dishes.
But now her stomach was ill, and she could no longer eat such heavy–flavored dishes.
“Madam, why aren’t you eating? My cooking skills haven’t deteriorated. When the young master eats at home, he always asks me to make one or two spicy dishes.”
Aveline was somewhat surprised and glanced at her. That man couldn’t handle spicy food.
in Auntie Helen noticed Aveline’s thoughts and continued, “That’s why I said the young master has you his heart. Even if he doesn’t live with Madam, he will still let me make dishes that Madam likes to eat. In the past, Madam, you had to force him to eat a little, but now he eats voluntarily every day. Aveline suddenly found it funny. Alexander had tried a different cuisine, while she had to give up her original cuisine because of her illness and switch to a lighter diet.
So they were destined to be unable to be together.

Aveline didn’t discuss this matter with Auntie Helen anymore and persuaded Auntie Helen to borrow her
phone.
Luckily, she had a photographic memory and had saved Ryan’s number before. Aveline dialed Ryan’s
number.
If something happened to Ryan, she would be to blame. She only relaxed when she heard Ryan’s voice on the other end of the phone.
There was no sound on this end of the phone, and Ryan sensed it keenly and asked tentatively, “Is it
Aveline?”
The car accident was too suspicious, and Ryan knew it all too well.
“… It’s me, sorry, Ryan, for causing trouble for you.”
There was a hint of excitement in Ryan’s exhausted voice. “So the words you said in front of the Civil
Affairs Bureau were to protect me?”
Aveline didn’t understand this man’s way of thinking. “Ryan, my phone was confiscated, so I couldn’t contact you. How are your injuries?”
“Don’t worry, I wasn’t hurt because the airbag protected me. Is he imprisoning you? Do you want me to -report it to the police for you?”
“We are still husband and wife if we haven’t divorced, so there is no evidence of imprisonment. Ryan, I’m grateful for everything you’ve done for me, but you don’t need to worry about my affairs anymore. What happened today was just a warning from him. I know you meant well, but I’m not worth your efforts. I’m relieved as long as I know you’re safe. Goodbye.”
Aveline quickly hung up the phone, leaving Ryan dumbfounded, holding the phone and smiling foolishly. It turned out that she didn’t say those words for Alexander.
Aveline returned the phone to Auntie Helen and dragged her exhausted body back to her room to rest.
She didn’t know how long she slept, but in a daze, she heard the sound of the door closing.
The room was filled with a strong smell of alcohol, and the pungent odor made Aveline feel extremely uncomfortable, and her stomach started to churn.
Before she could speak, Alexander casually threw his coat on the floor, and then the mattress sank down. She heard the man muttering, “Dear, I’m back…”
