Alexander’s Adam’s apple rolled as he said, “Okay.”
For the first time in over a year, the two of them stopped their fighting. She held onto him tightly, just like she used to, while his fingers moved slightly before eventually hanging by his side.
The car arrived at Alexander’s company, and he instructed Lucas to send Aveline back.
Instead of going back to the Sterling residence, Aveline went to the hospital Anthony still hadn’t woken up and had been transferred to a regular ward.
Aveline dismissed the nurse and personally brought warm water to clean his face and fingers.
Muttering to herself, she said, “Dad, I know your secret. I wish it were all fake. Can’t you wake up and deny it? Say that you didn’t do those things, that you didn’t kill Delilah.”
“Dad, I have stomach cancer, and Alexander doesn’t know. It’s better this way. If I pay him back with life for another life, will he be able to let go of his hatred?”

Aveline rambled on, saying many fragmented words in front of the hospital bed.
She knew that her time in this world was running out, and this was all she could do for her father.
It wasn’t until the afternoon that she returned to the Sterling residence. Alexander was a man of his word. If he promised, he would never break his promise.
Just as she arrived at the Sterling residence, Aveline saw Nora waiting in the yard.
Without Alexander present, she dropped all pretenses, and her delicately made–up face twisted with at fierce expression.
She stared at Aveline fiercely and said, “Do you think he will turn back today? Aveline, let go.”

Aveline wasn’t angry but instead calmly stared at her. “Nora, do you love Alexander?”
Nora was taken aback, not expecting Aveline to suddenly ask such a question.
After a moment, she answered. “I’ve wanted to marry no one but him for over ten years. I’ve known him longer than you have, and I love him more than you do. You have no chance of winning.”
Aveline smiled bitterly. “I know.”
She raised her head again and said calmly, “Whether you believe it or not, at least today, I don’t want to
fight with you.”
The dead can never win against the living, especially considering the complicated relationship between her and Alexander, which couldn’t be resolved in just a few words.
“I just need one month. After one month, I will leave A City.”
“Do you think I’m a three–year–old child? You…”
Before she could finish her sentence, a milky voice sounded, “Mama”
A little bundle wearing a bear onesie appeared on the snowy ground. With unsteady steps, the little one stumbled towards the two of them. After taking a few steps, the child fell to the ground but quickly got up.
Jamie agilely crawled towards Aveline, but Aveline was faster. She took a few steps forward and lifted him up from the snowy ground.
The little one seemed very happy and reached out his chubby little hand to grab Aveline’s neck.
Seeing this, Nora pulled him away, and the child cried incessantly in her arms. Aveline’s heart ached at the sight, and without thinking, she reached out to hold the child, wanting to stop his crying.
Nora held the child and tried to escape. The sound of the child’s cries echoed in the yard. Suddenly, Nora. fell to the ground, and Aveline saw the child and her fall together.
Without knowing where she found the strength, she rushed towards the child.
“What are you doing!” An angry voice rang out.
