Chapter 85
The sneered coldly and grabbed her wrist with one hand, pulling her into his embrace.
His actions were not gentle at all, but rather rough with a hint of anger, his arm tightly imprisoning her legs
Out of instinct, Aveline’s fingers accidentally touched his neck, startling her. She quickly moved her hand away, but the warmth from his body lingered on her fingertips.
“Alexander, let go of me.” Aveline struggled weakly, but couldn’t shake him at all.
She could only let him carry her into the snow, the thick snow under their feet making a “creak creak”
sound.
He didn’t say a word from beginning to end, and this silence was suffocating. Aveline was carried back to the sickroom by him.
The warm interior slowly warmed her cold body,
Jamie, who was confused, stumbled towards her as if he wanted to embrace her.
Looking at Jamie, his face covered in snot and tears, Aveline instinctively opened her arms to hold him.
But Alexander lifted Jamie by the back of his collar with one hand, his voice freezing cold, “Take the young master back.”
“Yes.” Jordan breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Aveline was safe and sound.
Daniel checked her body and once again hooked her up to an IV drip. He patiently advised, “Your white blood cell count is very low, so please don’t exert yourself anymore. Even the best doctors won’t be able to save you if you keep pushing yourself.”
Aveline murmured in agreement, her gaze fixed on the white ceiling like a rag doll.
Alexander had long cut off her escape route, not even giving her a chance to die. What could she do?
“I understand.”
“You better learn your lesson.” Alexander coldly withdrew his gaze from her face and left the room in big strides.
Daniel cautiously followed behind him, but the cold aura ding Alexander couldn’t be dispelled.
Suddenly, Alexander stopped in his tracks, and Daniel braked urgently.
Looking at Alexander’s face clouded with anger, his voice filled with a bone–chilling coldness, “Investigate why her white blood cell count is so low.”
Today’s events were all too strange. Aveline actually jumped off the building without any hesitation.
Clearly, her health had always been good, so why did her white blood cell count suddenly drop like this?
Thinking back to her frequent bouts of dizziness recently, Alexander couldn’t shake the feeling that things weren’t as simple as they seemed.
Daniel nodded, “Alright, Mr. Sterling, I will give Ms. Aveline a thorough examination tomorrow. Don’t worry, based on her physical condition from two years ago, aside from acute illnesses, she shouldn’t have any chronic conditions.”
“That’s good to hear.”
Daniel nodded and hurriedly left, afraid of angering Alexander at a time like this.
He returned to his office and printed out the examination form for Aveline.
That night, Aveline’s high fever finally subsided. The next morning.
Aveline was still in a daze when someone woke her up. “Ms. Aveline, it’s time for your examination.”
Aveline, with a foggy mind, instantly became alert. “What?”
The nurse patiently explained, “Ms. Aveline needs to undergo further examination.”
Upon hearing the word “examination,” Aveline’s back went cold. Did Alexander suspect something?
