Chapter 6
Bastian Hanson’s voice was cold.
“Bella Lewis, stop lying. We all saw what happened.”
It was a reminder that I should apologize, not argue.
I chuckled darkly.
I looked at the child, still sniffling but sneaking glances.
“Fine, I hit her.“.
No one would believe me anyway.
My father, enraged, raised his hand.
Bastian Hanson stopped him.
I knew; he was worried about damaging my blood.
With the surgery date set, I couldn’t have any complications.
He pushed my father out, leaving only him, William, and me.
Bastian Hanson’s face was grim.
“It’s just some paper. Why were you SO out of
My body trembled.
*Just some paper*?
Those were my creations, my life’s work, something I loved!
To Bastian Hanson, they were just *paper*.
I found it absurd, laughing until tears streamed down my face.
My worthlessness was so clear.
I clutched my chest, feeling a sharp, physical pain.
The agony of heartbreak was real.
Bastian Hanson’s expression shifted.
He quickly supported me.

control? Was it really necessary?”
“What’s wrong? Don’t get upset. Breathe. It’s
a
small thing.
Let’s forget about it.”
“Breathe! I told you to breathe!”
I couldn’t take it anymore, shoving him away.“Get out!”
I threw everything within reach.
“All of you, get out!”
He didn’t dare provoke me further and left, his face dark.
That night, after my emotions calmed, Bastian Hanson delivered the news.
“The surgery is scheduled for ten days from now.”
I didn’t react.
He continued, “I wanted to wait until you were better, but you’re too unstable. Ten days is the best time.”
I nodded.calmly, accepting it all.

After a pause, he said, “I’ll perform the surgery myself. You won’t feel any pain after the anesthesia.”
I heard a rare note of care in his voice.
I looked up, revealing my pale, weak face.“Should I thank you?”
He was speechless.
I was thin, my cheeks sunken, my lips pale.
Lying in bed, a flicker of resentment remained in my dull eyes.
“Bastian Hanson,
He stiffened.
have
considered you
that I might
after actually die
the surgery?”
For the first time, I saw panic in his eyes.
But quickly, his composure returned.
“It’s been proven. You won’t die before the mission is complete. Don’t try to trick me.”
The resentment in my eyes faded, replaced by emptiness.
This was my last attempt.
Bastian Hanson, there are no fools who, knowing their hearts are trampled on, still offer their devotion.
I am not one of them.
I will completely disappear from your life.
Silence filled the room.
He saw the tears in my eyes and felt a sharp, unfamiliar pain in his chest.
But he quickly suppressed it.
Reason told him this was temporary.
After the surgery, everything would be over.
He would compensate me.
We’d be the same as before; I’d return to him.
I would be reborn.
There was still a chance.
