Chapter 5
The next day, Ruth finished her lunch and went back to her old house.
She wore the imperial green jewelry set, which was said to be a family heirloom, given to her by her mother–in–law on her wedding day.
Unfortunately, early in the morning, Garrett’s parents flew to Dryscar Island for vacation, and she was left empty–handed.
Buth asked and upon hearing the butler say that he would not return until a month later, she handed him the things and left.
After going to the beauty salon for a spa, she returned home carrying over a dozen pairs of earrings she had just fallen in love with.
The light in the living room was on.
Garrett sat on the sofa, with many gift boxes piled up on the table.
He heard her come back, put down his phone, and glanced at her.
“Did you return the family heirloom, as the butler said?”
Ruth nodded.
>Stop!
Garrett sighed slightly and sat down beside her, saying, “Are you still angry? a fuss. For the sake of all the gifts I prepared for you, can you forgive me this time?”
Even if she returned the family heirloom, his initial reaction was surprisingly that she was still
angry.
Instead, she wanted to cut ties with him completely.
He was so certain, certain that she loved him and would never leave him.
That’s why he was so reckless, that’s why he came up with such absurd ideas of each doing their own thing, and that’s why he repeatedly hurt her heart by being with other women.
Ruth remained silent and simply glanced at the a hint of mockery flashing
ar logo on the bo in her eyes.
“What I wanted was something unique and one–of–a–kind.”
⚫ Garrett didn’t know how she knew the same thing, and he also picked one for Anne, slightly taken
aback.
“Ruth, you misunderstood. I genuinely wanted to apologize to you, which is why I asked Anne to choose on my behalf. When I saw that she liked it too, I bought two. Can you please not mind these small matters?”

Small matter, small matter.
Ruth had already grown tired of this word.
She overturned the gifts in one go, “Gifts can be prepared in countless numbers, and your love can also be divided into countless halves, right? Garrett, I only regret now…”
Her eyes turned red.
I regret why I trusted you back then.
I regret why I married you.
Although the words were not yet finished, Garrett had already understood the implied meaning behind them.
He couldn’t sit still any longer and stood up, grabbing her hand. “Ruth, you have to know that my heart truly belongs to you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have married you. Just wait for me a few more years, wait a little longer. Once I’ve had my fill of playing around, I will definitely come back to
you.‘
All this talk, it’s still these meaningless lies.
Ruth no longer had the desire to continue listening.
She withdrew her hand, her tone incredibly flat.
“Then just wait.”
Seeing her gradually calm down, Garrett thought she was no longer angry. His face immediately relaxed a bit, and he picked up the scattered bags from the ground and handed them over.
Ruth knew that he didn’t understand this sentence, but she didn’t explain anything and took the bag, turned around, and went upstairs.
She was waiting for the cooling–off period to end.
It was not the day he suddenly woke up.
Ruth’s birthday was coming up soon, and Garrett’s parents, who were far away in another country, remembered their daughter–in–law’s birthday. They specially arranged for someone to airship a priceless gemstone crown from Ecluoland.
The address filled in is the headquarters building of the Todd Group.
After receiving the news, Ruth initially wanted to tell her parents that she had already signed the divorce settlement with Garrett. However, thinking that they were traveling and not wanting to spoil their mood, she decided to hold back.
She went to the Todd Group.

Garrett’s parents had placed her birthday gift in Garrett’s office, and she happened to be in a meeting at that time. Ruth went in alone.
As she pushed open the door, she saw that Anne had already unpacked the outer packaging and was wearing the dazzling crown on her head.
Seeing her, Anne panicked and immediately wore a timid and fearful expression on her face.
“Madam, how did you come here?”
Ruth, uninterested in watching her perform, walked up and raised her hand to take away the crown
from her.
“Come and take away what belongs to me.”
Upon hearing this, a hint of jealousy and unwillingness flashed in Anne’s eyes. She held onto the crown tightly, refusing to let go, using all her strength.
Just like that?
Ruth was about to let go when she deliberately stabbed her finger onto the sharp tip.
Crimson blood oozed from her fingertips, and she immediately slumped onto the sofa, sobbing
softly.
“Madam, I just wanted to admire the crown a little longer because I found it beautiful. Why did you treat me like this?”
