Chapter 6
Ruth hadn’t even recovered her senses when her whole body was suddenly pushed by an unexpected force from behind.
She fell heavily onto the coffee table, and her forehead hit the corner of the table with a bang, instantly causing blood to seep out.
Her face turned pale with pain as she sucked in a breath of cold air and looked towards Garrett, who
had suddenly burst in.
He didn’t look at her, but held Anne’s injured fingertips, disinfecting them and applying at band–aid, unable to hide the pain in his eyes.
Now, Ruth finally knew what game Anne was playing.
She trembled as she stood up, bent down to pick up the blood–stained crown, and handed it to Anne.
Garrett thought she was showing off, and a nameless anger rose in his heart.
He was about to explode, but Ruth didn’t give him a chance to speak and spoke first.
“You like it, so I’ll give it to you. Take it.”
This unexpected reaction left Anne stunned, and she forgot to continue shedding tears.
Garrett also didn’t understand what she was up to, furrowing his brow.
“This was given to you by your parents.”
What did you give her?
No, it was for my daughter–in–law.
She was no longer the daughter–in–law of the Todd family.
Ruth directly put down the crown, “I have a cleanliness obsession, things stained with blood are unlucky, so I gave it to her.”
After saying that, she didn’t even look at their expressions and turned around to leave the office.
Watching her carefree figure, Garrett furrowed his brows.
After getting married, Ruth had two well–known hobbies.
1
One is buying a house, and the other is hoarding jewelry, so every time she gets angry, he would use these two things to appease her.
She didn’t want this invaluable collection–grade jewelry anymore?
On Ruth’s birthday, Garrett still hadn’t come back.
Chapter 6
At the banquet, everyone was inquiring about his whereabouts, asking Ruth if he had gone to prepare a sumprise.
After all, he used to always stay by my side.
Ruth didn’t care where he went, she just wanted to celebrate her birthday.
After today, she turned 27 and was about to embark on a brand–new life.
Why bother to worry about these old people and old things again?
She did not answer these questions, but instead shook a bottle of champagne and opened it like fireworks.
“Happy birthday to me!”
Her tone was filled with endless freedom and relief, which made everyone present burst into laughter and raise their glasses.
“Wishing our most adorable, beautiful, and fun Mrs. Todd a happy birthday!”
Mrs. Todd?
Ruth smiled and said, “It’s no longer the case, I have already been with Garrett…”
The word “divorce” was swallowed by the sudden sound of a door being pushed open.
The guests in the living room turned their heads at the sound and saw Anne appearing at the door,
supporting the intoxicated Garrett, with a bewildered look on her face.
Being stared at by so many people, she blushed instantly and started stuttering while speaking.
“Excuse me, sorry to bother everyone, I am bringing Mr. Todd back.”
Today is Ruth’s birthday, how did Garrett get drunk outside?
This question lingered in the minds of all the guests.
Ruth, however, remained calm. She set down her glass and walked to the door, intending to help
Garrett inside.
However, he refused to let go of Anne’s hand and held onto her, even kissing her forehead in front
of so many people.
Anne’s face turned bright red as soon as it hit the ground.
The people present at the scene showed shocked expressions on their faces.
Ruth pretended not to see and added a little more strength to her hand.
Garrett impatiently pushed her away and buried his head in Anne’s neck; his tone filled with

ambiguity.
“Why do you smell so good?”
As soon as this sentence came out, the entire living room fell silent.
Anne blushed, but her eyes were triumphant, yet she had to pretend on her face. “Madam, Mr. Todd was drunk and talking nonsense. Please don’t mind him. He, he was just too busy and forgot your birthday.”
Ruth was overwhelmed by all the chit–chat.
She was too lazy to expose her little thoughts, so she took a few steps back and made way.
“The bedroom was on the second floor, on the far left. You helped him up there.”
