Chapter 20
From the day Ruth received the divorce settlement from the lawyer, she knew that Garrett woul definitely ask this question as long as he knew the truth,
After all, in his POV, she had loved him to the point of no return, so he dared to shamelessly use the excuse of not having enough fun yet to cheat and have an affair.
He thought her love for him was unshakable, even if one day it transferred to someone else, it would only be out of love turning into hatred, out of revenge.
He tried to use this excuse to console lits excessive Indulgence.
You see, there is simply no unwavering love in the world. All the promiscuous actions you made before were just human nature.
If another person were in the same position as you, they would be unable to control themselves and would make the same choices.
Even the woman you once tried hard to focus on and loved cannot be consistently devoted to you. So why should you be so harsh on yourself?
Since love is such a fickle thing, why bother being extremely loyal to it? It’s better to play around with emotions while we’re young, and then find someone like–minded to make do with when we get tired.
Isn’t that enough?
These are the psychological activities of Garrett when he repeatedly cheated after marriage.
Ruth did not understand these things at first.
She didn’t experience this feeling until she hit rock bottom, found Liam, and said she wanted to support him.
The difference was that, at that time, she still carried a sense of guilt for betraying her marriage.
She was simultaneously plotting revenge against him and hating herself for being unfaithful.
Two emotions took turns appearing in her body, tormenting her and making her almost unbearable.
It was not until the sudden car accident occurred that Ruth finally saw through the obstacles that had trapped her and found a way to set herself free.
Love, what does it matter? Hate, what does it matter? In the face of life and death, they are nothing but illusory emotions.
When a person dies, they become a handful of ashes, and then they have nothing left.

Is it really worth it to torment oneself and waste the rest of one’s life for some unworthy people and things?
She was only 27 years old, why did she have to be bound to Garrett for the rest of her life?
This is the answer Ruth wrote for this seemingly hopeless marriage problem after narrowly escaping death.
So after recovering, Liam once again acted spoiled and said he wanted a title, and she agreed to give
him one.
She decided to let herself go, decided to rein in at the cliff, decided not to indulge herself anymore, not to fall into promiscuity like Garrett.

She had the courage to had someone who loved her wholeheartedly, and she had an
immeasurable future.
She and Garrett were never the same kind of people.
So after the passage of time, Ruth finally had the opportunity to confess the words that had been hidden in her heart for a long time.
In front of Garrett, word by word, resounding loud and clear.
“Revenge? I did once consider seeking revenge on you, but then I realized, how unworthy it would be to sacrifice my whole life for the sake of retaliating against your insincere and cheap affection. That’s why I ultimately chose to be with Liam, not out of revenge, but simply because we love each
other.”
“In my understanding, love means being together, and not loving means breaking up. It is a simple and easy decision to make. Actually, you don’t need to come up with so many false excuses to hide the fact that you have already changed your mind. Just tell me once that you no longer love me, and I will willingly leave.”
“But you kept procrastinating, refusing to let me give up. During the year I married you, it was the darkest and most difficult time of my life, but fortunately, it’s all in the past now. I have also come to my senses and finally decided to let myself go.”
“Perhaps there really exists someone in this world, just like you, who can love multiple people at the same time and give their heart to many. Maybe one day the open marriage that you admire will truly become mainstream, and perhaps one day you will suddenly realize and take back the love you have given away, returning to your family.”

“But that’s all irrelevant to me now, Garrett, because you and I were never kindred spirits, the past, not now, and never will be in the future.”
