Chapter 9
Kayson drove to the hospital directly.
Today was the day Luella was discharged from the hospital.
Last night, she kept insisting that she wanted to see her childhood photos, so he went back specially
to fetch them.
When he walked to the elevator with a heavy bag in his hand, he brushed shoulders with a stranger
man.
From this person, he smelled a familiar, faint scent of perfume.
It was Luella’s favorite perfume.
Did this person just come out of her ward? Is she someone’s friend?
Kayson felt a little confused in his mind.
But the elevator came down quickly, and he didn’t think much about it, so he pressed the 7th floor
button.
As soon as she saw him, Luella’s face lit up with a bright smile.
Two people were flipping through a photo album while reminiscing about the past.
When it comes to childhood memories, Kayson quickly forgets about everything else.
By noon, the White family came to pick up Luella from the hospital. As soon as they saw him, they
immediately expressed their gratitude.
Kayson quickly returned the greeting, with a humble and extremely polite tone.
“Luella would get hurt, and it would be my responsibility to take care of her.”
Upon hearing these words, Luella gently patted his hand.
“They
said it all, Kayson. My injury has nothing to do with you. Yesterday, I had Uncle and Aunt
come over to clarify the situation. Please stop always blaming yourself, okay?”
Mrs. White nodded in agreement upon hearing the words..
“Over the years, your aunt and I have been busy with work. If it weren’t for you taking care of
Luella, she wouldn’t know how she would have gone crazy. We have to thank you.”
Luella walked up to Kayson and was about to act coquettishly when she was pulled back by her mother, Mrs. White.
“Now that you are older and have started a family, Luella, who is still immature, keeps bothering
1/3
you. Please don’t be upset, we will properly educate her and make sure she doesn’t trouble you in
the future.”
The atmosphere in the ward immediately became tense.
Kayson understood the implied meaning.
His breath became erratic for a moment, but quickly returned to normal.
The smile hanging on the corners of the lips was also withdrawn, leaving only restraint and
politeness.
Luella’s expression also changed.
But she pretended not to understand what her mother was saying, smiling at Kayson and trying to change the subject.
“Okay, okay, Kayson and I grew up together, no matter what troubles we had, he even promised to take me home, right?”
Kayson lifted his head, about to respond, but the meaningful gaze of the two elders changed the meaning of the words lingering between his lips.
“We had agreed, but just now my secretary informed me that there is some matter in the company. Since my uncle and aunt have come over, I won’t disturb them.”
After saying that, he didn’t stay any longer and turned around to leave the ward.
After taking a few steps, Mrs. White called him back and handed him the photo album.
“Kayson, Luella did something wrong to you, but she was young at that time and didn’t understand the value of sincerity. Don’t take it to heart.”
Watching the elder, who had watched him grow up since childhood, with a face full of apology, Kayson gently shook his head.
“Auntie, I have already let go of the past, I won’t hold a grudge against Luella, so don’t worry.”
Mrs. White sighed and looked at him with a gaze full of regret.
“Luella was not fortunate, and there was no fate for you two to become a couple. I heard from your mother that the girl you married is very filial and sensible, and you have a good relationship with her. You should cherish her well, as she is the one who deserves your wholehearted devotion and to grow old with you.”
