Chapter 8
The phone rang several times before someone finally answered it just as it was about to be hung up.
“Warren, bring Madilyn back immediately. If I don’t see her in fifteen minutes, you can forget about seeing your girlfriend again!”
Warren instantly panicked when he saw the dagger at Carissa’s neck.
“Don’t hurt her, where are you? I’m coming to find you right away! Madilyn, Jared Swanson has kidnapped Carie, tell him not to harm her!”
The camera shook, and Madilyn’s face appeared on the screen.
“Jared?”
The man stared at her intently.
“It’s me, Madilyn. You clearly said you would marry me. I gave up everything for you. You can’t
leave me…”
He became more and more agitated as he spoke, and the dagger left a bloodstain on Carissa’s neck,
causing her to cry out in pain.
Warren’s heart skipped a beat when he saw this scene.
“Don’t touch her! Carie, don’t be afraid, I will go and save you right away.”
Watching Warren’s nervous expression, Carissa couldn’t help but well up with tears. She bit her lip tightly to prevent herself from crying out loud.
However, in the next instant, Madilyn’s words froze her in place.
“Warren, don’t worry, he was never Jared. Ms. Solomon, there really is nothing between Warren and me, you don’t need to put on such a show to test his feelings.”
As soon as these words were spoken, Warren furrowed his brow and a hint of hesitation appeare
on his face.
Carissa’s heart sank to the bottom of the valley.
“I didn’t act, Warren, believe me this one time, just once…”
At the critical moment of life and death, she disregarded the dagger pressed against her neck and humbly pleaded with Warren.
On the other hand, Madilyn sighed helplessly with a face full of resignation.
Don’t push Warren anymore, will you? Is it that as long as I take the initiative to leave, you won’t do these things anymore?”

Finally, Warren’s face completely turned cold.
“Carissa, I didn’t have time to play these tricks with you. Even if you were really kidnapped today, I wouldn’t let Madilyn go!”
He hung up the phone without hesitation, leaving behind these words.
Carissa stared at the screen blankly.
Like falling into an ice cellar, the whole body felt icy cold.
Jared’s angry voice came from behind his ears.
“If we have to blame someone, we can only blame you for being Warren’s girlfriend. Remember to open your eyes wide and not to find him again in the next life!”

When Carissa opened her eyes again, she found herself lying on a hospital bed.
Warren stood by the bed, nervously watching her.
“Carie, you woke up, is there anywhere uncomfortable?”
Carissa’s mind is now in complete chaos.
But she didn’t forget that Warren believed in Madilyn and mercilessly put her in danger.
If it weren’t for the neighbor who came to her rescue, she would probably have lost her life by now.
“Sorry, it was my fault. I shouldn’t have doubted you. Can you please not be angry? I have never met Jared before, I had no idea that person was actually him…”
Carissa withdrew her hand and interrupted him with an expressionless face.
“Didn’t Madilyn know Jared either?”
Warren stiffened all over, his voice explaining with difficulty.
“The light was too dim, Madilyn just didn’t recognize him. When she realized that person was really Jared, she cried in self–blame for a long time. Anyway, Jared has already been caught now, so please don’t blame her anymore, okay? Carie, I know you are the kindest…”
She almost lost her life.
Madilyn shed a few tears, and Warren immediately came to ask for her forgiveness.
At that moment, a nurse suddenly burst in and said, “Mr. Knapp, Ms. Archer has woken up and she
crying, saying she wants to see you.”
This time, Warren did not choose to leave immediately, but stubbornly stared at her.

Carissa tugged at the corner of her mouth and said, “You go ahead, I’m tired and I want to rest.”
After saying that, she turned her back and closed her eyes.
Warren thought that she had agreed to forgive Madilyn, so he kindly tucked her in and said, “I’ll go check on her and be back to keep you company in a little while.”
He left these words behind and turned around to hastily follow the nurse.
A few minutes later, Carissa completed the discharge procedures alone and hailed a taxi by the
roadside.
On the way, she received a photo sent by Madilyn.
Warren knelt on the ground, holding her ankle, and earnestly put on her shoes.
Watching the words being typed on the screen, Carissa casually blacklisted her.
She returned home and walked straight into the study.
Without hesitation, I took out the fake marriage certificate from the safe and tore it into pieces before throwing it into the trash bin.
Then she mentioned the luggage and headed straight to the airport.
From then on, her future would no longer have Warren’s presence!
