Chapter 9
On the day of the ransom exchange, Jeffrey also asked me to go along.
Oswaldo came alone driving a speedboat.
The ship was filled with boxes containing gold, and there was also a person.
It was Michelle who was extremely embarrassed.
I approached Jeffrey and asked, “How did you manage to get it for her?”
Jeffrey raised an eyebrow and said, “Ask Waylon for an additional ransom.”
“This woman, no matter what, is more valuable than two billion pink diamonds, right?”
Why does this sound like you’re venting at me?
Not only this matter.
In addition, Jeffrey incorporated my plan of faking my death into the matter of Oswaldo ensuring my safety.
We were traveling by boat, but it exploded on the way.
Jeffrey laughed coldly when he mentioned this plan.
“He used to enjoy playing the shell game, didn’t he? Let’s give him a taste of his own medicine.”
The meaning of this statement made me so angry that I really dare not think about it.
Oswaldo’s speedboat approached closer and closer, allowing me to see his face clearly.
His face sunken, he was thin and unshaven, as if he had just crawled out of a garbage dump.
That piece of clothing on the body…
It was the first time I bought a suit for him.
Jeffrey had his subordinates go out and shout.
Michelle was quickly pulled over and thrown into the back cabin.
Oswaldo insisted on seeing me first before he would pay.
I stood at the bow of the ship, and Oswaldo immediately burst into tears.
“Alyvia, I’m glad you’re okay.”
Don’t be afraid, I have prepared the money, they wouldn’t dare to trouble you.”
He was about to deliver the gold bars to the waiting ship as he spoke.

I spoke up to stop him, “Go to this location for the transaction,”
Although Oswaldo felt strange, he still accepted the coordinates, turned around, and drove away,
I also boarded the pre–prepared ship.
When he arrived at the location, he found himself surrounded by vast ocean, and Oswaldo visibly felt relieved.
He handed over the gold bars to the members of the Shadow Gang, and was about to bring the boat over to my side.
The boat approached closer and closer, and his face was filled with a regained joy.
Oswaldo wiped away his tears haphazardly and said, “Alyvia, thank goodness, thank goodness you’re okay, otherwise I would have regretted it for the rest of my life.”
“Don’t worry, Michelle has already been punished. I have posted online what she did. Even if Waylon takes her back to her country, she will still have a ruined reputation.”
“Afterwards, I will no longer have anyone else in my heart. Shall we start over, okay?”
I looked at him coldly and said, “Do you know why I called you here?”
Oswaldo paused for a moment and said, “Because it was very safe here.”
I undid my clothes, revealing the bomb strapped to my body.
“Oswaldo, it seems like you really forgot.”
“This is the place where my daughter tragically died.”
“It was you who fired the shell that destroyed the ship where our daughter was.”
Oswaldo’s face turned pale. “No, Alyvia, let me explain. It was an accident, I didn’t know she was on that ship, I just wanted…”
I sneered, “Silencing me,
huh?”
“Oswaldo, if you don’t want others to know, don’t do it yourself.”
Oswaldo watched as I tried to flick the switch, his lips turning pale with anxiety.
“No, Alyvia, don’t punish yourself. Kill me instead, kill me to atone for your daughter.”
“As long as you were alive, I could do anything for you.”
I stared at him blankly.
Oswaldo spoke with such sincerity, as if he really feared my death.

For the past five years, I had had enough of his lies.
In Oswaldo’s incredulous gaze, I pulled the switch.
Amidst the deafening explosion, I still heard Oswaldo’s heart–wrenching screams.
“No!”
I sank into the sea along the device.
The diver who had been prepared long ago quickly took me away.
When it surfaced, the first thing I saw was Jeffrey.
He held a small box in his hands.
“Alyvia, this was your daughter.”
I took the box with tears in my eyes, as if I saw my daughter’s small and soft appearance again.
She was so small that she couldn’t even turn over.
I only hate myself for trusting the wrong person.
But didn’t Jeffrey say before that it would be very difficult to salvage and not to get my hopes up?
Jeffrey wrapped a towel around me and said, “Alyvia, whenever you are by my side, my luck would
always improve.”
“So, everything still needs to thank yourself.”
“Let’s go, wipe yourself clean, you are now ashore.”
I nodded, yes.
I, who had been immersed in lies and falsehoods for so many years.
Finally, I made it ashore.
Later, it was heard that Oswaldo never returned to his country and built a houseboat with wooden planks, living on the turbulent sea.
I heard that he kept saying that he would be scared if I left.
This statement made me feel disgusted.
As for the matter of redeeming Michelle, Waylon haggled for a billion.
He came close to the end but then changed his mind, letting Shadow Gang handle it themselves.
Jeffrey was so angry that he tied him up and threw him into another pirate’s den to work as a

laborer.
The good deeds done by the three of them were widely spread and known in the country.
The stocks of the Murray Group and the Dougherty Group plummeted directly to the limit.
Both families came out one after another to distance themselves from them.
No one bothered to investigate Shadow Gang either.
Jeffrey earned a large sum of money, but he disbanded Shadow Gang directly.
I looked at Jeffrey, who was carrying a suitcase behind me, feeling quite helpless.
“I have told you all, I didn’t have such thoughts now.”
Jeffrey looked at me pitifully and said, “Anyway, I am now homeless. If you don’t take me in, I will have to wander.”
I could only make him keep up.
The world is vast, and the future time is also long.
If he was willing to chase, then let him chase.
We walked on the road one after another, just like when we were children.
It was all good times.
