When Ruth Krause handed over the divorce settlement, Garrett Todd was busy coaxing his 52nd
mistress over the phone.
“Garrett, let’s get divorced.”
“Sign the document, then wait for a month. Once the cooling–off period is over, we will go our separate ways and never be involved again.”
Hearing this, Garrett nodded and casually took the document, flipping to the last page without even looking at it. He nonchalantly signed his name on it.
After signing, Garrett stood up and picked up his coat, while still busy whispering to the lover.
“Okay, okay, okay. Shall I come and accompany you right now?”
After the phone call ended, Garrett had already walked to the door when he suddenly remembered something and turned back to look at Ruth. “By the way, Ruth, what did you just ask me to sign?”
Did you not bother to ask until you had already signed it?
Ruth gave a mocking smile.
“The di…”
Before she could finish, Garrett waved his hand dismissively and said, “If you want to buy a house, just go ahead and buy it. You don’t need to bring the agreement over for me to sign. I’m busy trying to appease someone. Because I have been at home with you for a few days, she is throwing a
tantrum at me.”
Hearing this, Ruth realized that he hadn’t actually listened to a single word and had mistakenly thought it was a contract for buying a house.
Well, in the past, when they used to argue the most fiercely, she would always buy rows and rows of villas with Garrett’s money.
Real estate was already a declining industry. She invested billions just to vent her pain and anger
towards him.
Back then, she still had hope for him, and the remaining love made it impossible for her to accept the fact that he had already fallen in love with others, which led to her collapse and despair.
How could he fall in love with others?
She remembered the first time they met. It was at a bar.
At that time, she went to pick up her friend and happened to come across Garrett, who was heavily drunk and about to fall. She kindly helped him up.

He glanced at her and fell in love with her.
Garrett, a well–known name in the circle, was the heir of the Gloomhelm Group. He had a handsome and rebellious face, and changed girlfriends almost every three days. He had broken hearts of lots of girls in the city.
Ruth did not want to become one of them, nor did she want to be with this kind of prodigal, so she directly rejected him.
Yet he didn’t give up on her, instead he totally fell for her. He relentlessly pursued her and couldn’t see anyone else but her.
The romantic sea of flowers that covered the square on Valentine’s Day, the fireworks by the
seaside that never stopped all night just to make her smile, the forever company when she was
lonely…
Her heart, which had never been touched before, gradually succumbed under his grand pursuit.
After they got together, he no longer flirted with other women, but devoted himself to being by her
side, always informing her of his whereabouts no matter where he went.
Everyone said that Garrett had turned over a new leaf for her.
Ruth also thought so.
So when he knelt down on one knee with red eyes and proposed to her, she happily accepted.
However, under a year into their marriage, Garrett started getting involved with other women
again.
She and he had countless arguments. Countless times, she stood in the shattered living room,
hysterically turning into a madwoman, while he was exhausted, pressing his forehead.
Finally, he proposed the idea of “we both seeing others freely, and returning to the family when we
have had enough fun.”
“Ruth, I love you very much, but being together for a lifetime, just the two of us, would really
become tiresome.”
“We can both see other people, but no one is allowed to be attracted to them. When we have enough
fun, we will cut off with them and be faithful to each other again. How about that?”
Ruth refused, but he didn’t care and continued to do as he pleased.
One day, she broke down and kept a campus heartthrob, Liam Huynh as her lover.
At first, she just wanted to spite Garrett.
Liam would gently call her honey and comfort her. He would be there for her whenever she felt

most isolated. He would stay by her side with teary eyes when she was critically injured in a car accident, accompanying her during her follow–up examinations.
The boy was pure and innocent, and as time went by, his presence slowly healed Ruth’s deeply
wounded heart.
She had thought about giving him a house or a check, but he didn’t want any of that. He just wanted
a status.
“Honey, divorce him and give me a try.”
In the boy’s eyes, there was full of love. His gaze was so pure, so bright, reflecting her figure completely.
She was tormented and battered throughout this marriage.
But at this moment, in his eyes, she seemed to be shining.
At that moment, she was suddenly infected. Life is meant to be enjoyed to the fullest, even children know that when a toy is broken, it should be replaced. But in these years, the years she had been entangled with Garrett’s hysteria, what had she been doing?
So, she agreed.
She agreed to be with Liam and put an end to this chaotic marriage once and for all.
