Lucas held me with one arm and brought me to the table.
I refused to get off him, and he patiently sat in the chair, feeding me.
As we ate, my band started wandering on his body.
He restrained me with a look, silently warning me not to move.
But if I listened to him, I wouldn’t be Emily.
I took his hand and placed it on my waist, palling his neck closer, pressing him toward me.
Just as things were getting heated, a video call popped up.

Being interrupted while doing such things was really annoying.
I didn’t look to see who it was. I fumbled to hang up but accidentally touched the answer button.
A familiar voice came through the phone.

I felt a flash of impatience on my face and was about to hang up when Charlie’s voice came from the phone.
Tim, who are you calling? I don’t need her to pick me up!
If she wants to make a scene, let her make it. It’s been three years, and her temper hasn’t changed. She’s learned to use silence as a form of threat. Does she think that’ll make us compromise?”

as full of disdain.
So, he knows we havent been in contact for three years.
When I was first sent abroad by the Walker family, they didn’t care about me at all. I made excuses for them, thinking they were busy. I waited for them to contact me once they had time.
But I waited for a long time–three years–and not a single call came.
Three years ago, Charlie liked to go out to dinner and drink, often staying our late.
No matter how cold or hot it was, or what time it was, I’d ahways get up from bed and go find him as soon as I got a call.
