Chapter 440
I bumped into Alicia as soon as I entered the elevator.
Alicia wore a jumpsuit, with a V–neck adorned with a pearl necklace, exuding elegance and professionalism.
She glanced at Beatrice and said, “You don’t have to dress so plain.”
Beatrice smiled and said, “I thought it was good.”
Looking at her smile, Alicia was slightly shocked and didn’t ask any further.
Alicia glanced at the time and said with some dissatisfaction, “Why hasn’t Madelynn arrived yet? She used to be the most proactive, but now
she’s nowhere to be seen.”
As soon as the words fell.
Madelynn walked over in a white off–the–shoulder long dress.
She applied highlighter on her collarbone, and her shiny collarbones could be seen from afar.
But she unnecessarily tied a half–inch wide red velvet ribbon around her neck.
At one point, it was unclear whether her focus was on her neck or her collarbone.
Madelynn stopped in front of Alicia and Beatrice, her face turning red.
“Ms. Moreno, I’m sorry, but I couldn’t accompany you to the party today. Mr. Caden asked me to accompany him for a social engagement.”
Alicia frowned, “You should have informed me earlier so that I could have prepared in advance. Don’t forget, this trip is for business, not for
leisure.”
Madelynn’s eyes flickered, and she reluctantly said, “I didn’t want to either, but Mr. Caden insisted that I accompany him. The people we were having dinner with were also relatives of the Baldwin family, so I couldn’t refuse.”
As the words fell, she glanced briefly at Beatrice.
As I raised my hand to tidy my hair, I accidentally touched the ribbon on my neck, revealing a blood–red mark.
Thinking back to the trending topic, Beatrice knew exactly what it was.
Love Bites.
Quite intense love bites.
She finally understood why Madelynn applied so much highlighter on her collarbone, just to make it look strikingly odd and draw attention to the out–of–place red ribbon.
Madelynn awkwardly touched her neck and said, “I had already told Mr. Caden not to leave any marks, but who knew he would… I’m sorry, Beatrice.”
Beatrice said expressionlessly, “What’s it to me? It’s not like I made him bite you. If you feel embarrassed, go ahead and bite him back, it’s quite
romantic.”
Madelynn choked slightly.
Seeing this, Alicia, taking into account Madelynn’s position, didn’t bother to argue.
“Alright, I got it. You go and accompany Mr. Caden, Beatrice and I will leave first.”
Beatrice nodded and was about to turn around when Caden led the people downstairs.
Madelynn immediately approached and affectionately linked her arm with his: “Mr. Caden, you’re here! Beatrice was just saying that I should spend some quality time with you, praising us for being so charming.”
Upon hearing this, Beatrice really wanted to roll her eyes.
But before she could even lift her eyelids, a cold and icy gaze fell upon her.
