Chapter 28
Tristan gave her a cold look. “If you don’t want to go back to the hotel, be my guest. You’re not welcome here.”
With that, he turned and walked away.
Camila, clearly distraught, was practically shoved into a car with her luggage and driven off.
I quickly returned to the living room, pretending I hadn’t seen or heard anything.
Moments later, Tristan entered the room and found me sitting quietly. He smiled and said, ” Let’s go. It’s a lovely night for a walk. It will get colder later.”
I happily walked alongside him as we strolled through the night.
The atmosphere was delightful. The gentle breeze enveloped us, and the presence of my companion put me at ease.
I began to talk more while Tristan remained quiet, simply listening to me ramble on.
I didn’t ask about why he had gone out of his way to send Camila away and treat me so kindly. Some things were better left unknown if one wanted to be happy, and I realized that deeply.
The next day, I went to the hospital for a checkup and to have my bandage changed.
Chloe hurried over to see me. Her expression brightened, seeing that I looked better, but then she pointed at Jason. “Is that him? He doesn’t look like it.”
I realized Chloe had misunderstood. “That’s Dr. Ward. He’s the Zook family doctor.”
She clicked her tongue, and there was a hint of envy in her voice as she said, “The rich really do have it good. Those romance novels were right.”
I quickly covered her mouth to silence her. Leaning in closer, I asked, “What do want?”

Chloe gave me a curious look. “Can’t I just visit? Or are you so smitten with Tristan that you. can’t think straight?”
Heat rushed to my cheeks. I hurriedly replied, “Don’t talk nonsense. It’s not like that. He’s only looking after me because of Charles.”
Chloe’s expression grew even more peculiar. “Wyn, don’t you know about Charles?”
I hesitated, asking, “What about Charles?”
But Chloe quickly redirected the conversation. “Oh, it’s nothing. Charles is fine. I actually came to share some gossip.”
I furrowed my brow. “What kind of gossip?”

I had a feeling it was about Jameson and Xandra again.
Honestly, I felt completely drained every time I heard his name. All I wanted right now was to recover and hire a lawyer to sever all ties with Jameson.
I didn’t even care about claiming any of his assets. The idea of
haring anything with that man
after five years of our lives together, especially the things he had touched, filled me with disgust.
I had to admit, Jameson and Xandra have utterly disgusted me.
Chloe glanced around with a mischievous grin. Waving her phone at me, she said smugly, ” You won’t believe it! Last night, Jameson somehow got my WhatsApp and texted me, and I ended up scolding him!”
I was left speechless.
Chloe didn’t notice the expression on my face. With a triumphant smile, she swiped through
the chat interface.
I glanced at it but quickly looked away, fearing that his name would taint my vision.
Chloe, looking triumphant, chuckled as she said, “I brought up everything he’s done to you over the years and really gave him a piece of my mind. He seemed drunk at first and tried to explain himself, but then he just fell silent.”
She insisted I look at her lengthy rant.
I glanced at it but quickly pushed the phone away. “I say in the end?”
I want to see it. So, what did Jameson
Chloe grinned and replied, “He didn’t say much, but he clearly didn’t believe that that bitch could do such things. I told him to verify it for himself and sent him screenshots of Xandra’s social media posts.”
I was taken aback. “You have screenshots of Xandra’s social media posts?”
Chloe rolled her eyes. “Is that really surprising? Didn’t you ask me to create a fake account and join her alumni network, pretending to be her junior?
“I added her as a friend on that account, and that’s how I got those screenshots of her pretentious Facebook posts. You even told me to save a lot of them. I sent all of the screenshots to Jameson.”
