Chapter 87
My forehead wound eventually healed, leaving only a faint scar in its place.
As I looked in the mirror, I saw a haggard woman. The vibrant image I had of myself at 18 years of age gradually faded, and I came to accept how I looked now.
But it still hurt so much.
I dedicated seven years of my youth and made abundant sacrifices for love. Yet, this was how it
ended.
I wiped the mist off the mirror and started putting on my makeup.
I had to pull myself together. I couldn’t let anyone see me as a joke–no one could!
So, when I appeared in front of Shaun, I looked radiant and exceptionally tidy.
I covered the scar on my forehead with my bangs. This made me look much more refreshed.
When Chloe saw me, her eyes lit up. “Wyn.”
I gave her a wry smile. “Do I look okay?”
Chloe’s eyes were full of amazement. “Okay? You look more than okay! Wyn, you’re gorgeous.
“I told you, when you dress up, you could totally outshine those scheming bitches anytime. Who does Xandra think she is? She can’t hold a candle to you in looks and personality.”
I held her hand and said, “Yeah, I’m great. It’s Jameson who’s decidedly not. He doesn’t deserve me. He only deserves to be with someone like Xandra.”
Tears suddenly welled up in Chloe’s eyes.
She hugged me tight as she sobbed. “It took you so long to realize this. You’re terrible! I’ve been worried about you for seven years, and now you finally see how great you are! Wyn, I feel so sorry for you.”
The sight of Chloe’s tears hit me hard.
I finally realized how my obsession with Jameson had left Chloe, my best friend since childhood, feeling worried and helpless.
My eyes filled with tears. I patted her shoulder and said, “Stop crying. Mr. Collins is watching. Let’s get started.”
Chloe wiped her tears shyly. “Yeah, let’s go. Wyn, you can do this.”
I smiled at her, then turned to sit across from Shaun, who adjusted his glasses and smiled ever so slightly. “Alright, let’s begin.”

Then, he continued, “But first, I have one last question for Ms. Lambert.”
“Go ahead,” I said.
His expression turned serious. “Ms. Wynonna Lambert, are you truly determined to divorce Mr. Jameson Brown?”
I nodded. “Yes.”
After giving my answer, I couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Collins, why are you asking me the same question again?”
He replied, “Because after reviewing your and Mr. Brown’s files, we’ve found that your divorce case is going to be very difficult. Much of the evidence doesn’t support your claims to marital assets.”
He continued sternly, “Ms. Lambert, you need to be prepared for a long legal battle.”
I nodded with determination. “I’m ready.”
Shaun shook his head. “No, you may not realize the extent of it. This kind of divorce lawsuit is usually more difficult than you can imagine.
“It could further damage your reputation. You might face slander, insults, and all sorts of unexpected challenges.”
I fell silent as Shaun waited quietly for my response.
After a minute of contemplation, I lifted my head again, my gaze steady. “Yes, I’m prepared for that. I’m ready to face it all.”
The fact–finding session with Shaun was much harder than I had imagined.
Due to my amnesia, I couldn’t recall any of the premarital or postmarital agreements I had made with Jameson. I didn’t even understand why I agreed to transfer 50 million dollars to
him at that time.
The evidence–collection process was much more difficult than I had anticipated. Fortunately, Shaun’s team was very experienced.
With their keen expertise, they found clues from multiple sources and pieced together the situation from that time. They even managed to obtain the financial records of Jameson’s company during that period.
My mind went foggy after trying my best to recall those lost memories throughout the evening.
Chloe noticed I looked unwell and tried to pull me aside to rest several times.

I shook my head and insisted on finishing the four–hour questioning session.
After Shaun left, I slumped into the chair, feeling completely exhausted.
My head was spinning, and the dizziness due to my concussion returned. I dry–heaved several times but couldn’t seem to throw up.
Chloe looked like the epitome of concern. “Wyn, you should rest. I’ll get you some water,” she said, turning to leave the room.
As she walked away, I leaned back in the chair and pounded my head in frustration. I felt overwhelmed, and I buried my face in my hands. Despair was the only feeling that registered in me.
